Hey guys, new here.
Im looking at getting a stroker kit from pro stroke engines, for my xr8 au3 220 manual. I was just wondering, wat are the labour costs involved to put it in and tune, etc. ( steps involved). |

Stroking the 220 will net you around 30 to 50 kw and cost anywhere around $15k. There are cheaper options to get that (and more) power. Buy a Series 3 TE/TS50/Pursuit motor and install it (IIRC, FTG had one a while ago for $7500). Or spend 10k and supercharge it. But, hey, it's your money. You may be better off buying a series 1 XR8 motor and stroking that, and selling the XR8 220 motor to offset the costs. You'd probably get $4k plus for the 220, and the series 1 shouldn't be more than $2k (if not less).

Good advice there JC It would be a lot cheeper & better to go out & get a T3, save the money your gonna spend on mods & put it towards trading up.
For $10000/15000 plus an XR220 you would get a nice 1 owner T3..

depending how skilled u are at spinning the spanners may keep costs down
removing the engine urself...removing manifolds, heads etc.. then giving someone the short motor to rebuild and fit stroker kit...seen kits between 1500 and $2000...maybe thats a place to start if u have the confidence |

Get a T3 or strap a blower onto it. Been there on both counts (stroked VS blown). The blower was better value due to the fact you still had a blower. Yeah Heads, cam, stroker = about $15K

Supercharging it is a great option.. I have a powerdyne s/c with a big exhaust and custom chip from chiptorque on my series 2 xr8 ute. The power is awsome! it eats SS commodores.
I have a unichip to suit an au v8 if anyone is interested - going cheap email: american.pitbulls@gmail.com |
