I have a few avi video files on my computer that i've been meaning to put to dvd for some time now. I've downloaded a few programs that do this
TEMPEnc which was way too slow and converted my files to mpeg which has no use to me. IMToo DVD to Avi Converter and Xilisoft (same program) which had too many audio sync errors and also took about 5-6 hours. ConvertXtoDVD which so far was the best program but has limited authoring features and does not allow me to add a menu made in a seperate program. it also had a few audio problems which were small Does anyone here uses a program regualary to transfer avi files to dvd? I've heard a couple of good things about Nero Vision but i'm yet to download it (will take me 4 hours on DU) |

I use DIKO and its fantastic, and will burn it after authoring if you have DVD decrypter.
Can add custom menus Its free. There is a Gold version, but ive never bothered, and there are addons available to tweak it and improve. Can take up to 3hrs to author an average length movie on my computer http://www.vmesquita.com/

I acually saw that program yesterday online and was about to download it until I read that it had limited features in the freeware version, but if you don't really need them then I might try it. Thanks mate
Has anyone tried it the hard way? Is it any better than using a program to do it all for you? http://www.divxland.org/avi_to_dvd.php |

There should be a log.txt file in the temp file, tell me what it says and ill try and help.
Also is it a windows problem or a problem within the program?

I use Ulead DVD Workshop 2 for simple AVI or other video file, to DVD. Its easy, can make a custom menu, and its good quality. But depending on the resolution of your AVI files (i am presuming you have DVAVI 720x576), going to DVD will take time as there is a lot of compression going on.

A) is costs $200 B) I have Nero 6.6 which does not have nero vision C) To download the trial is 129mb and I have dial up D) DIKO is completely free but doesn't work for me. XR6 Martin, I managed to get it working buy running it as a Windows ME application and it created a folder with about 12gb of video files. I tried again this time requesting a dvd image then I burnt it to a dvd and none of my dvd players reconise it... Seeing as it takes about 6 hours you can see why i'm getting a little frustrated with it. |
