Anyone here got Satellite Navigation on their phone/s?

I'm just doing research at the moment into it and have found a couple of good kits, but I'm more interested in how the experience with using them is.

Yep!

I was using TomTom Mobile 5 on my nokia 6630. Amazing, simply amazing. Was using with a cheap bluetooth GPS receiver that i borrowed from a friend.

My boss has the hand held TomTom... um, a GO510 i think. The mobile phone version was identical interface and maps etc.

Only downfall was that the Australian maps consumed the better part of 100mb of my 128mb MMC.

I will disclose that the software was not obtained through legal channels and is no longer being used.

But in the interest of the discussion, im keen to hear what other software (i assume it's all symbian?) you guys have seen for this purpose.

Oi Kenny. What type of memory card does that N70 of yours use? If it's MiniSD we can throw in my card and give it a whirl.
I couldn't get it running on my N80 yet because it needs newer software which at last check a couple of weeks ago still wasn't available.

I run TT6 Navigator on my PDA...same thing really...Don't know how good it would be on a mobile screen...seems a bit too small for me.

Oh and TT6 runs a little better than 5!

The phone uses RS-MMC cards. It won't take MiniSD at all...

I'm going to do more research on this little gem...

Yep, orsomxc was telling me about it roughly a month ago and I've been doing some hunting round to see what's available.

So long as you have a phone that supports the software. Or a PDA that runs the funny little version of windows.

For phones... its primarily those with the Symbian operating system... Nokia and Sony Ericsson + a few others.

As well as the software you need a bluetooth GPS receiver... can be had pretty cheap on ebay these days.

AUIISE - the TomTom package comes with an RSMMC that you bung in the phone and away you go. Well... after you authenticate it lol.

Picked up a HP iPaq Bluetooth Reciever from Officeworks for $149.

Just need to wait for the latest software now so I can use it with my phone. Shouldn't be long now as the latest TomTom software for PDAs is out.

Hi guys ,
From my own experience , you are better using a device that uses the Windows Mobile 5 operating system , other must haves , include bluetooth support , and the ability to have removable storage (SD card , mini sd or similar) to store maps on .

Two out of three things I can tick there, my phone runs a Symbian OS.
