Default Snorkel mod; what have they done?

In another facinating chapter of my LPG debugging saga .. after asking the manufacturer (given up on the installer), to fix the LONGstanding problem with cold/cool starts, they come back telling me they've done this-and-that. But they also tell me that they have cut a hole in the snorkel (AU V8) to the airbox to stop surging at highways speeds. Funnily enough I never had a problem with this, nor did I ask them to "fix" it, nor did I want a hole cut in my "CAI" (kind off) snorkel! The hole is about 5cm diameter at the lowest point of the snorkel. It doesn't seem to have affected either LPG or petrol behaviour, but I'm pretty PO'd about it. I assume it will only be detrimental to petrol performance/drivability?

Anyone know where I can get a replacement?

Putting an extra hole in the snorkle imo aint gonna do jack/nothing probably except help the car suck hot air from straight under the hood/in the engine bay. If you had no extra CAI's or AI's on your car ( just the stock snorkle ) to start with , then yeah it might help the engine obtain air (but warm air !) / breath a little easier at higher rpm. But apart from that your better off having a CAI rather than just a better AI (which it sounds like they have tried to obtain by adding the extra hole ) ......... or they could of drilled the hole there maybe them thinking your snorkle was holding water or condensation in the bottom of the 'U' pipe on the snorkle on cold mornings. ?

Either way , sounds like a dodgy way around part of trying to fix an lpg problem , i've never heard of any au on lpg having to have an extra hole drilled in the snorkle pipe to get it to run correct on cold starts. You can pick up another 1 from ford reasonably cheap.

what is / or was actually the problem with your gas system , having problems starting it on cold mornings ? .. cheers.

A computer adjustment at least sounds more along the lines to getting it on track / compared to them drilling holes in your intake snorkle pipe.
If they have actually adjusted the settings , then it might be worth even just putting some gafa tape over the hole they drilled (for now as a test) and see if it fixes the problem your having now with hot starts , it wouldn't supprise me if the hole is part of that problem now ...lol, it might be sucking too much hot air through that hole from under the hot bonnet while trying to start the car while the engine is still hot ?
