I think the base model cars will be HO - HUM the ss is putrid but the calais and the stato are very much to my liking. itll sell but not in the nubers weve seen previously. most of these models seem focused on private buyers and not fleets. This has been commodores strength untill now. Time will tell. With regards to fuel economy ... blind freddy could see that was going to suffer from a mile away. BFII better have something substantial up its sleave. those interiors are very european and as others have said look "upmarket" except for ss WTF were they thinking ??? ORANGE???? ewwwwwwwww

These are same arguements that the Holdens boys had when ford released the new shape from the AU to the BA. It's predictable. Pity thou. I'd sooner see more holdens on the road, knowing the money is spent on Aussie product, than seeing all these imports on the road.

You call that an atrocious interior? Go sit in a BA/BF for a while and absorb the acres of hard, crap, el-cheapo plastic. |

i thought id just point out a few downsides to the new VE range.
all this technology and development costs surely will rise the price, by at least $2000 on base models and at least $3000 on calais and SS models. also, why did holden go for optional 20s on the SS? they cost $700 a pop to replace! in addition to this, if the fuel consumption is the same as VZ then its not going to exactly 'boost' sales over long-term is it? if the running costs are higher, if it costs more and if there is no fuel benefit which fleets are going to buy it? in reality its the fleets that keep this company building this car! |

I can't believe they STILL don't have a split fold rear seat. I keep chaning my mind on the SSV. Not sure i like it or not. The Caprice thats different.

I think the new VE looks pretty good, but nothing that I really didn't expect. Not too sure about the flarey wheel arches, but, then again, flares have come back in style, too. Disagree with anyone who thinks the VE interior is a huge advancement over the BA/BF. Keep in mind we've only seen premium models, which equates to the BF premium ICC. I love the interior of my Phoon, and the whole layout of the premium ICC still looks great and is very practical. We haven't seen the Omega yet (fleet buyers' special) so let's wait and see its cheaper interior before selling our Falcons in disgrace. Just because the BA is 4 years old, doesn't mean it's dated. Remember that when the BAII and BF were brought out, Ford completed market research and customers wanted very little changed, indicating that the BA got it right the first time. Holden have lead with their trump cards: the Calais and SSV. No cheap models, no kerb weights, no pricing details and no fuel economy figures. Too early to comment.

The car as a whole looks like a elongated Vectra, the front came from an Astra and the whole thing to me looks unrealistic like a concept car, and it's too European looking I can't stand it. IMOA.

It has been quoted in both wheels and motor And whats the big deal with the split fold rear seats? i don't get it. I don't know anyone that ever use it. Sure its a nice convienience feature but i would prefer the added strength in the chassis |

My Brother who isnt a massive Car Enthusiast but does have a slight favour towards the Falcon had this to say about it after watching the VE launch on the News Tonight...
"The headlights look like a falcon, the rear tail lights look like the 380's but shrunk and there is no consistency with the overall design of the car...there is no real theme to the car, just a bit of everything...the grill and the headlights dont go together and the rear doesnt look like it matches the front of the car " This left me speachless...by gosh i think he's got it!!! |

Well it’s a question of when is an opening useful enough. If you go to the trouble of a large ski port you may as well have gone for the flexibility offered by seat luggage options. I use it all the time. Extremely handy imo and an oversight by Holden when today the large car needs to be as flexible as possible. You will find the Falcon has more strength in the rear bulkhead then the commodore. It's for this reason.

Well, after seeing more of the new Holden and different spec as well, CALAIS, SS etc, I reckon HOLDEN have done well. The car looks great and modern. It is certainly an advancement over the current V series.
I hope it sells real well.........good for keeping FORD on their toes and hopefully the next gen FALCON will also be a leap ahead of the current B series as well.

i like how the radio stations that you've programmed in come up above their selected buttons... and i think that dash will look really good with a Silver SS.
That centre console looks a whole lot like my sisters old VZ settle down you two, so far we've had a good discussion on a topic that usually turns to **** after 10 posts.
