Maybe that explains the fuel consumption??

Oh well... It happens, no new car ever goes without its problems... How many recalls did the EA have? (Im too young to remember, but I bet it was a few! )

- the vehicle manufacturer's purchasing department are responsible for selecting suppliers which can supply parts at a consistent quality level and at a reasonable price
- the vehicle manufacturer's engineering department are responsible for testing the components to ensure that their durability meets the required performance
- the vehicle manufacturer's quality department are responsible for ensuring that the component suppliers have robust processes which should prevent suspect parts being delivered to the vehicle manufacturer

So in the end, it does not matter who stuffed up - it is the vehicle manufacturer who is ultimately responsible as they sold the finished product to the public.

It was bound to happen. No biggie, happens to all completely new models. THe BA had its fair share. Not doubt the AU and VT did aswell.

VE seems to have much bigger problems (and intern BF2 and Orion) on the horizon..

On a side note, Falcon Freak, is that all the Bathurst wins Ford have ever had? Is Holden tripple that ammount or something? We got some catching up to do!

cars are made by people ....people screw up, but holden made a huge boast the best built car.......the best built car :, poorly worded should have been a well designed car with usual local build qaulity.

There were other Ford wins at Bathurst but these were with imported cars:
1963 - Cortina
1964 - Cortina
1965 - Cortina
1988 - Sierra
1989 - Sierra.
So 15 Ford wins in total.

Holden has 25 Bathurst wins all with Australian made cars:
Monaro - 1968 & 1969
Torana - 1972, 1975, 1976, 1978 & 1979
Commodore - 1980, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1986, 1987, 1990, 1993, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 & 2005

But we digress so lets get back on topic.......

Yeah - they did want to do a recall of the whole VE fleet for fear of it becoming the Holden AU....

I thought they did lots of testing costing lots of money, which they showed in the TV documentary and magazines.

One could've easily come to the conclusion that the car was perfect with all the bugs ironed out before it went on sale. How misleading.

Fact is that Ford and Holden are not the best cars on an international level but given the price we pay, they are good enough.

To expect a brand new model to have no problems is ridiculous.

Reality is that cracks will appear, and when the VEII is released, some of these cracks will be filled, while a couple more may appear.

It's the way things are, so I wouldn't gloat about this as the Orion will almost certainly have its own issues 6 months after release.

Someone I know in the automotive industry has it on good authority that behind the Japanese and Europeans, we are third in quality in the stuff we turn out of Adelaide and Broady. I tend to agree.

Good point. I think a lot of people think the car is crap and blame the manufacturer, when in this case, it's the guys who manufacture the fuel tank.

Is Toyota's Quality Slipping?
Surveys, Consumer Complaints Suggest It May Be
By Joe Benton
www.ConsumerAffairs.Com
10/11/2006

Toyota has become the recall king, something the company never had to wrestle with in the past as it won most of the JD Powers and other car quality surveys," wrote Wall Street analyst Douglas A. McIntyre. But, as the company's market share has ballooned in the U.S., Toyota had to ramp up production for North America and quality seems to have suffered," he wrote.

Other industry analysts warn that Toyota may be becoming complacent as the company attempts to overtake General Motors as the world's largest car company. They cite the Strategic Vision survey as new evidence that growth may be undermining quality at Toyota.

Some of the worst vehicles in terms of problems and recalls were Europeans like Mercedes and Porsche......................

I agree with some people here the most important thing is to fix the car and customer service.

It's running a single turbo setup and you can hardly tell even with engine bay pics!
