Most of us older humans over 40 (don't worry Franco, you will get there one day) would only do about 500k a day these days anyway and would stay in a comfy motel for the night.

Wouldn't you just charge it overnight?
Spot on. And that's why so many hotels have chargers these days. I usually book a hotel with a charger at the end of the Sydney to Melbourne or Sydney to Brissy trip. Car is ready to go in the morning and I just do the same after I go out exploring or visiting people during the day. Top up to full before the drive home.

I was obviously born too late, I think I would have done well in the golden era of IT (interstate transport )

Realistically it makes more sense to fly given I'm generally hanging about the capital cities anyway.

The only benefit is I've got wheels to get myself around, the penalty is the loss of two days of annual leave in transit (you sink 7+ hours just driving, over and back).

Putting that into perspective, would spend less on public transport/ubers to get about my destination than the hit to my annual leave entitlements.

Did we all watch the video, this only applies to pommy land so far. Did know one pick up on the real world cost of charging there, fast charge was a premium and not that fast plus short changed. Wait till road user charges are chucked in the mix with GPS monitoring. For me here in NZ I do a lot of kms work and recreational not quite Aussie outback but back country New Zealand, most small communities the Servo is closed down. Not sure where all these charge stations are going to materialize from We are getting forced into something here (nz) that cannot work in the real world but hey we a saving the planet while China and India suck up the mythical carbon credi..

Knockin' on the door for 70 and still like a bit if a drive. Rocky to Townsville is no problem. Stop just north for a Frosty Mango and on to Cairns. Rocky to the Isa 1400k in 14 hours, hit the Sealy, then on to Alice the next day. I think an EV would have a problem with that, at present. We must realise though, that development of electrical storage and generation will continue. Ice will definately go the way of the horse and camel, and steam driven vehicles. Man's quest for efficiency, development and, of course profit, will drive it.

A local tells me he can get to Alice non stop...Alice is his girl friend on the northside of the Fitzroy. Idiot.

Crate engine intended for drag racing, there’s no intention for use as a gasoline truck engine.

They use engines like these for builds. Like they do on the TV shows (Gas Monkey, etc).

With over 10 litres of capacity, I bet the fuel gauge moves every time you lean into the throttle……..
