The one that was at most risk off Stockton is now making its way out to sea under its own power. The one off Swansea is still holding its anchor. There's a 3rd in even less risk.

Haven't seen it like that for a longtime.

At Tafe or building had to be evacuated, because the halls were starting to flood.

Yeah i'm hearing you! They recently had the pool installed.. My friends told me that is a very bad place to put a pool. Everytime we get a load of rain there on to us about it.
I called the counsil today they said we need to setup a drainage pipe.

How ordinary was she knocking on our window at 7am on my day off... :

That is amazing isn't it, you would freak seeing that as you drive past! If there is two surely there would be news of it. Have a look at that last picture of Kyl3's, thats massive!

Imagine the conversation the guys in the lighthouse would of been happening.

"Hey Bill, did you get round to fixing that globe"
"Nah Greg, bunnings sale doesn't start until tomorrow, 50% off!"
"Greg look to ya left"
"Sh[t hey......have a good long weekend! See ya."

Over the past few days, storms have battered Newcastle, and the rain still continues to fall. We are part of the supposed 2% of NSW that do not have water restrictions, damn levels were already very high, then we get enough for the whole state on top of that! Here are a couple of shots of some 'fields' on the road into Newy from our estate - like we need more rain here:

As my job doubles as State Emergency Service, I spent some of yesterday helping out at a local pre-school that was ravaged by the storms. Today, though, I was able to go into town to check out the freight ship that broke anchor and shipwrecked on Nobbys Beach yesterday. A real tribute to the rescue helicopter crew that air-lifted the crew off in yesterdays storms. Today the rain was much lighter and a chopper returned to the freighter to drop off crew and supplies. Enjoy the photos, bear in mind the salt spray was thick so the quality of the photos is not as high as a clear day.

It has rained in the Newcastle catchments as much as anywhere else, but our dam levels were already full, so all it's done is flood everywhere. We don't have water restrictions here. I bet that must really frustrate rural NSW as we really didn't need any water at all, let alone this much!

Just heard Newcastle has been declared a natural disaster zone, I'm not surpised!

It was terrible. last night the water was around 800mm above the road level in the first 3 pics.

Abandoned cars were just floating down the road. Shops and houses all flooded. An under ground carpark is a giant pool.

But all the emergency services have done a great job to clean the place up.

You must have passed through Hexham about the same time I did today - and after a glorious clear day up at Crowdy Head too! Why did I leave?

I believe the crew of the ship might have unloaded their ballast prematurely hence lifting the prop out of the water meaning loss of propulsion when they really needed it. A very similar accident to this in South Africa not long ago. They ended up having to break the ship up where it lay. Meanwhile a skywalk from Nobbys to the ship would be a good tourist attraction!

That ship is almost on the road. I wonder how many weeks it will take to tow it back out to sea.

Here's a couple I took this morning. They have all the roads blocked off, and you are unable to get anywhere near the foreshore/carpark/beach with security guards on guard.

I honestly don't think that ships going anywhere. Its not going to be able to be towed away, too close to the beach now. I think in a couple weeks time, your see them starting to dismantle it.

Its going to interesting to see how it affects the surf when it all settles down. could make a nice wedge break. Can't Wait!
