Maybe he put them on because he idolises XR's or maybe he simply likes the look of that badging.
Or maybe more sinister he put them on because he is a hoon and he flogged the living c**p out of the car while he had it.

Either ways you purchased it and you knew they were there so hope he just liked the look hey.

I believe you shouldn't use XR badges. However Tickford badges in the right places, are alright in my books, as long as you have some Tickford parts on your car.

Vote for no badges anyway! heh

I want to put those small badges on my AU's just above the Intech OHC badges. I think it's a subtle thing that will make a nice touch.

I have no objection to such touches. If I wanted to justify Tickford wings I could, both have snorkels, the SR has Tickford springs and wheels, the wagon has a Tickford dual fuel set up (there's acutally the Tickford label under the bonnet).

But this isn't my point. A small touch such as a Tickford badge honours that marque IMO.

Each to their own of course. Just my 2 cents.

When I look at a base model Falcon with XR and/or Tickford wings on it, a couple of things come to mind from one end of the spectrum to the other:

1. Respect for the Tickford heritage and badges to show that - demonstrated by an impeccable example of a car which is a little different from the rest and has had significant quality work, time and effort done to it to reflect that; or

2. Wannabee who could've better spent their money on the real thing (and just as well didn't) - therefore an example of why kiddies and credit cards do not mix.

Each unto their own of course. I find it of no concern given the amount of parts interchangeability.

Iv actully been thinking about the wings on the Falcon.. its a nice touch, and I think the car looks a little sporty due to its stance and wheels. So I could probly pull it off. Im just worried, how long they'll stay on the car, considering they look very easy to steal.

i have the tickford wings on my SR but it has the engine is now an HP complete with the ECU it has adaptive shift and the XR diff also the tickfort cluster and suspension so i feel my car has enough tickford to have wings but wouldn't put XR badges on it. to each their own but i feel you should have some tickford enhancements to put the wings on

If you want to put badges on your car, then go for it. It's your car, you should do with it as you please. If it makes you happy, then I don't see a problem.

Too many people get caught up on the heritage thing. Why do people worship such a thing as a car and the car company, when as soon as they have sold you a car and have your money, they won't give you a 2nd thought. Multi billion dollar companies. Do they really need any other form of support from me once they have my money?

Cars are there to be enjoyed. You payed good money for your car, why shouldn't you.

Funny as it may sound, i don't think they are trying to fool anyone, they are young kids with dreams and aspirations / desires and when they put these badges on the last thing they think of is trying to fool some one, more so they are just caught up in the new wourld of motor cars and boys toys. Makes a big change from the lego set thats for sure.

AS we get older we see the silly things we done when younger, and is why you wont see many or if at all any more mature people putting badges and stickers all over their cars, or pretending they are something else.

I remember when i first started i put some of those chrome ring snap on covers on my stocky rims, my first mod, and hey i was out drivin like i owned the road, look back now and giggle at it, but then i was cool.

Yeah I did mate, not that there's much left of it now...
There was something about the 1 foot high EL GT wing, mesh grille, Tickford & XR6 badges, Formods stickers, LED lights etc etc that really did it for me!

I was so embarassed driving it home, as soon as I got it back to Melb, I debadged it, took the wing off, peeled the stickers off, chucked some hub caps on - I felt much better after that!

Even if he gets flogged by the heavyweight, he'll still probably go home with the girl.

Power might score you cred with the blokes, but who do you realy want to impress at the end of the night???

(that'll stirr the pot!)
the chick only takes him home out of pity though!! but a good point none the less.

when i first started "modding" i was driving a sigma. "cool" tip from supacheap, "devil waving a chequered flag" stickers, pig tail arial for the radio and chrome rims (later replaced by chrome hub covers due to young blood disease.....too hard and fast around round about = broken rims and flat tyres!!!) i thought it was cool and would even go lapping of a weekend: : :
as i said in my earlier post, im doing a partial debadge. im not trying to "impress" anyone, so i have no need to put badges that dont belong on my wagon. i have no disrespect for people that do though, its their car, let them do what they want. at the end of the day, i know mines a base model, and im happy with that, and i dont care what other people think.

Sheez I reckon 10% of forum volume is taken up in posts arguing this point.

Im an anti-badger....yet recently I found myself trying to make the rear of my BA XR unique. So I stripped off the XR badging and it just looked bare. Chopped the Falcon badge to try that out and it just looked bare IMHO.

So I thought what the hell am I going to put in that spot to make her look unique, and ended up with an FPV badge. Im not trying to be an FPV at 40+ yrs old. I could buy one if I wished to. But its a piece of Ford that looks good and fills a gap. It doesnt make my car go faster, and I deliberately 'added' it rather than take all the standard stuff off and replace it with FPV badging left right and center. It looks good and its a 'nod' to FPV. Couldnt really think of anything else to put there....stock badging blends in the crowd.

I'd prefer it to a FPV sticker in the rear window!

I went the other way when doing up my ZJ Fairlane, got all the FE LTD grill and headlights, boot, tail light and wheel arch metal work.

But the best addition was the 6cyl EFI/EEC4 badge on the front guards, reason being, there's a 460 big block under the bonet.

Mine came with the wheels .... otherwise I wouldn't have put Tickford wings on the ute.

I have a BA XLS badge on the passenger side of my dash though (even though it's an AU XLS ... the AU badges are crapola though)

I saw a BMW 735iL hire car with ASTRA name badges on it. One on the bootlid and one on the rear quarter window, very weird.

interesting topic.

i do have tickford wings on my front qtr panels, where the 4.0L badge was. It would be an interesting discussion if someone didnt believe my car was worthy of them.

AU XR Motor, better exhaust, BA Turbo 5 Speed, better tailshaft, better diff, XR8 Sprint interior, MOMO Wheel, better suspension, better brake rotors... the only thing missing is the brake booster, which i have, just getting the master cylinder rebuilt.

I dont have a problem if its worthy, but on some stocko's it may be a little too much. but then again, each to their own.
