Brock lost his marbles in the mid 80's and never recovered. Jimmy Richards has got to be the best old school driver ever, might not have 9 bathursts but a more complete driver IMO.
Oh yeah and BROCK falcons suck!!! I can also get a clapped out EA and put some extractors and noulathane bushes into it, doesn't mean its special know does it?

the Group A "plus pack" VL's (the ones with the crystals) also had "hidden" silver stickers hidden that would also help "align" the car with the crystal box. Some way out stuff really... but a genius behind the wheel none the less. I think Brock was at his peak with the VK group A or "blue meanie"

I've bought decals that I reckon give more power than the polariser.

I recently sold my genuine EA Brock rear spoiler for $150.....It was in perfect condition. A week after selling it a bloke offered $200 for it but it was already sold.

You are right. I use to have to put those stickers on. One went on the lower left rear window. I was working for a Holden dealer when all the poliriser tripe came out.

We took one off a new car before it was delivered & took it apart to see what was in it.
This is what we found.. One magnet facing 'east west' one facing 'west east'
Or simply put, one facing + - the other - + They were glued together with some sort of reison [spelling] & held in the box by jamming it all in tight.
There were fitting instruction for the cars that were getting them fitted at the dealers.. A complete & utta load of rubbish. :

All the techo I worked with, some of them Brock worshippers just walked away in disgust when we dismantled it.. The guy[Brock] & the so called Dr Dowker were nut bags of the first degree. :
A pitty really he was a good race driver, but as has been said [he would put his name to anything for money.]

As for the Brock Falcons? Brock under strict instuction from Ford! He made a very good car. He wanted to prove a point to Holden, that he could make better a car using a Ford.

They were fitted with all the good trim [MOMO etc] He did a huge job on the head & exhaust including twin cats. They were without doubt the best handling Ford I had ever driven up untill then [1989] I almost bought a Brock Falcon new, but couldn't come up with the extra $4000 they wanted for the package over the S pac . Dont worry, there was more to the Brock Falcon than just the name. They were very good cars..
You could even get Brock Louiville trucks!! :togo:

completely off topic, but does anyone know how many brock lada's were actually built?? i read somewhere a long while ago that there was going to be 200, but nowhere neat that were done.
also, has anyone ever seen one and/or got a pic??
they'd have to be the rarest brock-mobile ever and would be interesting to see what everyone is talking about.

i'm led to believe they were a last minute deal to bail him (brock) out of it when he was flat broke after the holden split, and they kept the doors open until the falcon/fairlane idea started. true or false??

cheers.

True:: Lada wanted to sell cars here But for some reason that couldnt. Brock had a manufacturers licance so he did it for the bucks. Ladas get sold in aust, Brock gets money to race.

That was in the recent Muscle Car Mag story on the 1987 Bathurst win.

The issue with the Ladas was probably that they were built like carp - I read years ago that the Niva 4x4s were virtually rebuilt when they arrived because all the driveline angles were out. There would also be work needed to meet ADRs eg replace lights, seatbelts, mirrors, fit an Aus-compatible radio etc.

Not quite. He did “modify” an LTS 9000 by adding some crappy side skirts for the fuel tanks and using LTD headlights on a slightly reshaped bonnet. In my opinion, the truck was absolutely embarrassing. Tony Noskie, Mark’s dad who owned Kalari transport ended up with it, although I’m not sure whether they gave it to him or not, as no self respecting operator would actually pay money for it.

They ended up changing the “Brockified” bonnet for a proper Ford one because the fibreglass kept cracking and the headlights would just about fall out because of the vibration.
