Hey GK, I've seen a few Steeda short shifters pop up recently second hand for around $150 ish. Ripshifters sound like they're good, but they're $500 or so!

Well the SR has been dropped off. Let the conversion begin! :

I got the Pacies delivered yesterday, picked up a new gasket and they'll be installed also.

With the Redback 2.5 already fitted, it should really liven things up a bit.

I should have the car back Thursday.

Cheers,

GK

Good work George, I told you Nick would look after you! I am almost as exited as you are now! I have to get a feel of what a brand new manual gearbox feels like when its done. Its going to sound insane with the Pacies and Redback setup too. I don't know how or why, but a the manual conversion makes the car sound completely different. You won't know yourself mate, its in safe hands!

Cheers for that tip. I just checked out their site and may grab one.

http://www.norcom.net.au/~bpt/gear%2...%20turrets.htm

Here's the link if anyone else is also interested in a shortened lever.

Wink

I saw that one also JC, it's a bit too expensive now, after all the other "neccassary" mods I've committed to. LOL!

If Evan can find the supplier he got his from though, I'll only be up for $40 odd, rather than the $85 + postage of this mob I found today.

Sorry GK, I have been searching high and low on ebay, and there is no sign of him. I don't know what happened. He used to have heaps of them. I recon you should just get the stock one cut and re-done.

Good effort GK, would be interested in seeing the finished product !

I'm now trying to work out how to convince my 'Minister of Fun and Finance' that her car needs lower springs and shocks to aid road holding and safety... as you remember I have tried before, but am willing to give it another go.

Cheers,
AB

George,

I had a BPT shortened gear lever mated to a Herrod Sureshift and it was a great combo. Lots of people also recommended the Ripshift, which sponsors like ACE can fit. Let the experts do the short throw shifter, do the lever swap yourself.

Well the Pacies were very cramped for room and the heat shield protecting the converter had to be replaced with a thinner item. There just wasn't enough clearance for it to remain, as it was a rather thick item and set at an angle which wasn't helpful. They're good to go though!

The box is in, the pedal box, gear boot and a few other little bits are on the agenda for tomorrow. I'll be picking it up between 3-5pm depending on how it goes and when I finish work. :

I'm really looking forward to it. I know Evan is too! LOL!

Shocks wear out after 50,000 kms drastically reducing braking distance, and springs sag unevenly causing unpredictable handling! That rubbish has gotta be worth a try!

Well the $400ish I spent extra on the Pacemakers isn't going to be an issue. In fact I reckon I'm going to order that BPT shortened lever also.

The reason I hear you ask?

WE JUST SIGNED UP FOR $17,000 WORTH OF IMPALA KITCHEN! That doesn't include a new dishwaher and rangehood, or the cost of the builder, tiler, plumber or electrician.

Total project cost = estimated $23,000-25,000.

Now where's that link for the shifter! LOL!

I reckon I just might treat myself to a new BBQ this Christmas also! LOL!

That lot should be worth a tidy low-mileage XR6T with some warranty left LOL.
