inflation / cpi eats into our pay increases so we're no better off.
oil giants already have the technologies to acquire oil from the earth so efficiently now that its all the greedy people at the top of the oil chains raking in the money. the cost of oil barrels are out of control. without the government petrol taxes our road infrastructure would be poor. where else is the money gonna come from to pay for all this. if only there was a black market for petrol... oil companies would cry like babies. |

Who really knows? 7 yrs ago when it peaked at around $40 a barrel, I wouldn't believe you if you told me it would reach $104 a barrel by 2008. The bottom line is we need renewable, abundant and envoronmentally friendly alternative fuels ASAP, that, i think we all agree on.

my dad drove across from Sydney to Perth in early Jan and in some places he was paying $1.96 per litre. Granted many were fairly remote places but i can see $3/L occuring quite easily within 10 years, if not earlier
Bring on LPG conversations.

China used 92% more oil based fuel in 2007 than they did in 2006.
India used 81% more in the same period. USA used 78% more in the same period. Europe used 28% more in the same period. OIL is a NON RENEWABLE resource, Many think Peak oil has come and gone.OPEC is trying to hang onto it's dwindling reserves..Will oil reach $3.00 by 2018?..You bet it will...
