It's a shame that all V8 Super Cars of today really only resemble the road car versions from the outside almost like they are a CGI rendition,
when you look at the drive trains, suspension, chassis and interiors etc you can't relate them to the cars you drive on the street. |

i'd put the statistics away. presently the ba bodied cars have a 50/50 chance of a win, this wasn't the case in production car racing of old.
i think blackwood was probably just as important as ba. correct me if i'm wrong but wasn't XF the highest selling falcon of all time? |

While the XD to XF sold well, they were hardly ground breaking technology. Pushrod motor which has was never powerful or good on fuel, 4spd manual or 3 speed auto. BA/F introduced Twin cam, turbo, VCT 6 speed auto and manual Quad cam V8, STD IRS. Manual Auto Mode SSS,on all models. I dont think any other model intoduced so many firsts as this series

For all the technology the BA/F introduced, it introduced another problem: weight. Lots of it.

Easily the best looking falcons in years, they are the best looking falcons since the XR-XY series.
God of a car to ford people and an instant classic. |

I can see this post going for pages in flames back and forth. Success can be measured in so many ways personally I don't like the look of the B series I actually prefer the AU's I do like the look of the new FG's if only Ford had a decent marketing dept and came up with better advertising than those stupid fingers. Personal success wise on road I love my AU. |

I wouldn't put a BA anywhere near an XA-C on the list of desirable cars, but that is hardly technical or objective either. |

Personally for me I'd never own a Falcon that was pre BA/BF And in addition to that I would only own a XR6T or F6

BA the best Falcon to date by far. Successful on the track, won many motoring awards when released, and saved Ford Australia from their blunder called the AU, which if it wasn't rectified and left to create 6 more years of AU variants, could have ended Fords Australian large sedan production decades sooner than it inevitably will be.
FG will be a success too. For now, they haven't been too game to leave the BA stylings too much. All other Falcons were great in their day, but now in the 21st century, this isn't their day. |

I wouldn't think the XRs would weigh much more than 1300kg. I could be wrong, it wouldn't be the first time...

One thing to consider is Ford worked on the weight of the FG by tring to get as much weight off it as possible, mind you after they added the extra's to it the weight did increase but just slightly. So thats a good sign by Ford trying to keep the car as light as possible and safe as possible. |
