V8 power.

Best sound by far, carby- no overhead cams, its like music. Sure speed is a different thing all together, some people like having a car with "personality".

I wouldn't cry if they dropped the V8 as I wouldn't buy one anyway, I'd get the Turbo 6.

Don't care about the configuration, how the air gets into the engine, what kind of transmission it has or what badges are on it as long as its quick and isn't a rotary.

My XR6T had more power than my VE SS but I like the way the V8 delivers the power more than the turbo 6. The is instant where as with the turbo you have to wait for it to spool.

V8 for sure.......
The thing is I think Ford needs to review the exhaust set up because the sound is what a lot of people like. There should be an option for a factory fit dual system. Something like this maybe.......

http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=TqZZfXdm7D0

Standard system. MG runs a standard mustang engine.

my boss 260 sounds just like that but a fraction deeper. Dual 3inch straight through pipes . But i think with emissions laws and all the crap the factory would deal with i think it not possible for them to release something like that. I think its up to the customer

That car was available in Australia.
Yes it is up to the customer but I still think it should be a factory option.

V8 for me, but if Ford Australia or FPV released a V8 version with a turbo I would sign up straight away. My mate has a VE SSV (6.0l) ute with twin turbos, man that thing sounds and goes like a jet, very very impressive.

Turbo 6. More of a buzz to drive. Nothing like the rush that boost gives you when you plant your foot, just endless tourque.......... Every modern V8 I have driven has left me dissapointed when compared to my T (including our new FG XR8 ute). No punch down low.

However, having said that, the sound of a V8 is impossible to beat and always leaves me with a smile on my face.

The Feel, The Sound, That RAW Brawn..
Plus the fact that is doesn't let out a stuttered sneeze on gear changes
You can have your Turbo 6, At the end of the day, it's still 2 cylinders short of being a REAL engine!! :

A bunch of Ferrari,s racing around a track together is actually quite an unpleasent sound.IMO
As for the thread topic, well its the sound!

Compared to the wild and unrefined noises spewing from most Aussie V8's I will have to say the Turbo 6 is a more, oh how else do you put it, orgasmic(?) sound. This said the lexus 1UZ FE (Quad-Cam 4L V8) is one of the most amazing engines i have ever had the privialge of kicking in the guts. smooth and torquey.

But any way of producing power no matter size or configuration has it's pro's and cons and people in genrel but especially manufatures need to respect realise that people are willing to pay what they have to for a car that suits their individual needs and taste. If some people want a V8 just so they can say they have one then good on 'em. Same goes for 4's, 6's, rotery, boxer and hell even the 2stroke GoGo mobile if you love it the get one...

Fav engine though: Quad Turbo W16 found in the Bugatti Veyron 16.4

I was gonna ask if that engine is from the IS F but the IS F uses 5.0L V8. So which Lexus uses the 1UZ FE engine?

Production cars that have the legendary Lexus 1UZ-FE at their heart

SC-400 (sold in aus as Toyota Soarer)
LS-400 (Toyota Celcior)
Toyota Crown
GS-400 (Toyota Aristo)

Also there is a mob on the Gold Coast called Bullet Roadsters that use the 1UZ-FE in a couple of their MX-5 bassed cars...Supercharged

Can't go past a V8 in my opinion. The sound, the sole. You just dont get the same feel out of a turbo 6. While the power of a turbo 6 is impressive, I'd prefer to own a tough V8.

Had a V8 was reliable and had plenty of fun, but for a real rush with massive torque Turbo 6 is my choice.
Twin Turbo LS2 OR Boss V8 would be even better...
