Seriously, this is one of the biggest things in Science in recent years!

This is amazing some of the things which may be possible!

re: string theory -- suggesting 6 alternate dimensions which we are not sensitive to. Some string theorists reckon that at high energy these dimensions may be visible. The high energies required may be simulated in the LHC. So if some particles just randomly appears of disappears, it has come from or gone to one of these alternate dimensions

Bloody crazy

Makes me wanna do my ph.D over again

So technically there could be a parrell universe?

A universe where Ford has lead the sales race since the ground breaking AU falcon was released in 1998 with styling resembling our BA falcon . A universe where the GT-HO was also revived in the BA falcon (FG styled)release in 2002 with a supercharged version of the BOSS engine with the surplus $$ made from the AU's success. A universe where Ford America, suprised by the AU Falcon's initial success and the BA Falcon's impressive performance and looks, graciously give the 4 door sedan market in America to Ford Australia.

I'd love to live there.

Perhaps a parallel universe where South Australians are witty?

As it is, over 80% of our plannet and the universe is made up of 'black matter' / the other 20% roughly is particles which form a mass - like yourself/plannets/everyhting that is a solid. What's actuly in the 'black matter' is yet to be seen , alot of scientist actualy think that is alternate time lines / like possible time-travel !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Some amazing stuff to come.
Woah....Stuff like this totally spins me out. Amazing stuff!

apparently they're flicking the switch at 8:30am Geneva time. By my calculations that should make it about 2:30pm here.

Cant wait. i'll laugh if it splutters and then conks out after five minutes!! hehe.

Seriously though, all the sceptics keep asking "What if something goes wrong?" when they should be asking "What if nothing goes wrong!!"

Anyways...Earth is destroyed by Super Computer Skynet in the year 2029...Everybody knows that.

Nah, could never happen.

Anyone know of a way to get constant updates about this?

Sure we arent going to die, but it would still be interesting hear what results they find..

"AT 5pm today, Queensland time, could mark the beginning of the end of the world.

That's when scientists in an underground bunker beneath the Swiss Alps will flick the switch on The Large Hadron Collider, the world's biggest particle accelerator, built underneath the Franco-Swiss border and run by European science organisation CERN.

Opponents fear the $A9.3 billion machine, which will smash pieces of atoms together at high speed to generate temperatures of more than a trillion degrees centigrade, may create a mini black hole that could swallow the planet
"

They wreckon by 8pm they should by raising champagne in celebration of success. At this stage im just raising an eyebrow. :
