Well even with all the Doom and Gloom on these forums and by the media in general Ford is up with sales - must be doing something right even with their nearly non - existent advertising
Good to see the Focus make some improvement. And as most of the knowledgeable Members on AFF have said before, it’s not just Ford that are having a tough time its all manufacturers - numbers don’t lie PS thanks for the Facts Update RATT

Anyone notice that the Holden ute and 4x4 Colorado/Rodeo were the only models to increase in sales where as in Fords line up Falcon, Falcon Ute, Focus, Focus Cabriolet, Mondeo,4x2 Ranger,Transit and Transit C/C all increased in sales. I think Ford will be reasonably happy with this result.
Pity about Terri but expected when it's been around so long with out update

I think it's a fantastic result. Honestly, how many people had thoughts of a new car on their mind in the last four weeks? To be able to maintain your sales amidst a ' global financial crisis ' is amazing.

Year on year numbers have made Ford look a bit better than it really is because of a pretty poor last year (focus/falcon in particular from memory weren't too good). But even so, ford has been steadilly gainig market share in most segements (except tezza) and overall as a result. Hell even Fiesta has a bit higher sales this year and it is on the way out, though it was down this month.
I think the quality of product with ford has started to make some inroads, if people are struggling for cahs you ain't going to see as many aspirational sales necessarily and they are after quality at a good price. Ford stands to gain here as holden has a pretty mediocre lineup at present (and is discounting like crazy) and toyota launched all it new stuff last year. Do you have numbers for Mitsu Ratt? I'd like to see how they are going.

Massive amount of work Russell.
Interesting; Ford FG is lifting, which is commendable in the current marketplace.

When you look at Ratts excellent data and the trends, I think it is far from appropriate for Ford or its fans to be patting themselves on the back for a good month. With the exception of Focus, the trend for all other Fords is down.
Wether they are going down faster or slower then Holden or what they declined by in comparison with the same cars performance last year is basically irrelevant. If you are in the business of making and selling cars, you need a trend pointing up for your product. Thats still not happening unfortunately. Creditors have no interest in people pointing at other car brands in trouble and saying "they are worse". You still need to make money or close shop. Basics of business. Since I don't want a FWD Falcon made in the US and shipped here, I had been hoping Ford Australia would really capitlise on the Holden Commodores troubles, but is simply isn't happening at anywhere near the degree needed to ensure the local Fords future. Just to show that it really makes little difference how we are doing against the red corner opposition, here is a little combo chart that looks at the average monthly sales for the lead seller in each segment and then compares the respective models from Ford and Holden with that number. Neither is anything brilliant.
To take that a step further, let's look at the sales numbers for last October. With the exception of 4x2 Utes, all other segments are down, some quite substantially. Cheers Russ

On a different topic...how the hell could the Captiva sell more than the Territory? Don't people know what they buy nowadays?

I want to know why on earth Mazda is doing so poorly? They have a very good new car range which has won many car reviews against similar competition.
I thought they would've been going fantastic particularly with the 6.

Captiva buyers are silly enough to think its a Holden built in Australia.

I think the Mazda 6 is a little pricey for what you get. It is a nice car however.
For a car in the same segment, people seem to flock towards the Camry. Tragic, though understandable, based on Toyota's reputation of reliability. Style doesn't matter to many.
