I always put my max bid in even if it has 5 days left. If I get beaten so be it. I hate when I bid on something realise I don't actually want it and it goes to my max bid then no one else bids. Karma I guess.

Sellers love you doing this, but anyone who is a serious buyer, and understands how Ebay works, they think you are a .......! There is no point being the highest bidder with 6 days to go, it only matters with 1 second to go, or less!

eBay sniping tools can be beaten by a quick manual bidding process, I use a two window technique that's done me well. If I get beaten it's usually because the auciton has exceeded what I thought it was worth.
