I like the complaints about her having an expensive car, who cares if she's 22 and admits she has a hard time driving it? Its her/hubbys money and they can do what they like with it.

Can't believe the hubbub on a car enthusiasts site about someone owning one of the nicest cars you can buy, IMO. Who cares how she got it, I hope they catch the scumbags that half inched it.

If I was cashed up, I'd get an Aston too...but it'd be the V8 Vantage which is the model that article appears to be referring to...

I can see how 283kW can seem like a handful for a 22yo young lady though, good thing her fiance didn't go and get her a 380kW V12 Vantage!!

But seriously, I hope they find her car (a great looking model too!)

She should have just left a pair of her nickers on the drivers seat, this way the crooks would have seen them and gone home with the real treasure.

If I had a GF like Lara Bingle, I wouldn't leave the bedroom! So she wouldn't need an Aston Martin

One difference though - The theft of Joe Average's Falcon is not a big enough story to make the news headlines. I actually think it's pathetic that some journalist seems to think the theft of her car makes a good news story...Most of us couldn't care less....Who cares what she drives and whether it's been nicked. Surely none of us are that naive to think that a person with her status would be driving a Camry !!

I doubt whether it would be her pride and joy....The Aston would simply be her daily driver used to commute between Eastern Suburbs cafes

MODEL Lara Bingle's stolen Aston Martin has been found and is under guard at a Sydney police station.

The $250,000 sports car, which was given to Bingle by her fiance, cricketer Michael Clarke, was stolen from their Bondi apartment building.

It is now being held by Coogee police and is reported to have only minor damage.

IT'S the question cricketer Michael Clarke and luxury carmaker Aston Martin are asking: how was Lara Bingle's $250,000 engagement present stolen from the security garage at her exclusive Bondi apartment?

The luxury car survived the ordeal with just minor damages.

More details on the car's recovery to come.

Police interviewed the couple yesterday after her 2008 model Aston Martin Vantage V8 disappeared from their $3.7 million fortress-like Campbell Pde home.

But Clarke does not believe his fiancee was targeted.

"I don't think they knew it was Lara's car so I think they'll be a little bit surprised. Fingers crossed I hope they find it," he said.

Makers of the handcrafted vehicle said it was the first time in the world an Aston Martin had been stolen without the thief having a set of keys.

"Aston Martin is very disappointed to hear of the loss of Lara Bingle's Aston Martin V8 Vantage," the statement said.

"All Aston Martins have the highest level of security built into them in order to deter unlawful entry to the vehicle and eliminate the ability of the vehicle being driven without the uniquely encrypted keys.

"Aston Martin is unaware of any of our vehicles having previously been stolen without the thief having a set of keys."

Detectives spent about half an hour in the three-bedroom apartment, after getting stuck in the foyer when the hi-tech security doors refused to open. Detectives yesterday confirmed that the car appeared to have been stolen between 11pm on December 29 and 5.30am the following morning.

There are several CCTV cameras in the building and on the garage but it is not clear whether the theft was recorded.

Forensic officers also dusted for fingerprints in the garage area as general duty officers door-knocked neighbours.

Officers said other vehicles in the garage had been broken into. Bingle was in her flat at the time of the theft.

Police declined to comment on whether the keys were with the Aston Martin at the time of the theft.

It has been confirmed the theft of Bingle's car has been placed on an international register of stolen Astons - there is no market for rebirthing because each part is engraved with ID markings.

The couple's neighbours yesterday declined to comment about the thefts but said security for the apartment block was the highest it could be.

"Put it this way, if you got into the lift and tried to get anywhere, you couldn't," one resident said.

Maybe this is the insurance side of me coming out but this whole thing is fishy.
1. It is pretty near impossible to steal an Aston without the keys or a tow truck.
2. Even though she has cc TV in her garage, there is no cc footage of it being stolen?
3. It was not discovered immediately????

My guess is Lara has had too much to drink, had a small Bingle (pun intended) and then reported it stolen the following day or two.

Silly bint leaves her keys in the car.
Unexpected bonus for whoever was breaking into all the garages in the building.

How will Lara get to the MENSA meetings until her car is returned ?

Lara Bingle is 22 years old, has earned huge sums of money, lives in a mansion with a high profile athlete, travels the world being treated like a VIP in most places she goes and generally has a wonderful life.

How is your career going?

You could always give her a lift to your MENSA meetings in your fairlane....

JUST BECAUSE SHE IS RICH , doesnt mean she has everything all worked out with a wise head on her shoulders.
the only thing here is if it is proved an inside job , or stupid blonde young women , leaving the keys in the car for a friend to take for a joy ride , or a smash or whatever , is that 250 000 can easily be covered by the piar, so at worst they wont get insurance cover . who cares .
is one wise enough though to cover up things like , CTV footage, or WTF , i didnt know they were that hard to knock off before i reported it . or the thief gets a new job with AUSTIN MARTIN .

I MIGHT ADD a 22 year old woman is more interested in her high heal shoes than what her cars security or performance features incorporate , in other words , whe would know how much the car is worth , how it makes a statement , she would not know that it would be upteenth times harder to knockoff than her previuos territory , or usual 22 year old girls lancer.

If I was a bookie, I think that the odds would be pretty good of this being something close to what happened.

I’m not knocking the tall poppy’s here, I just wonder why this ‘so called’ news story has the exposure that it has.

Personally, I couldn’t give a flying ***k about some bimbo who forgets where she left her car, of if she’s left her keys in it.

Full Noise’s crystal ball prediction is the investigation will ‘most likely’ find no evidence of the ignition being tampered with. Silly people forget that error codes and hi-tech ignition systems can make liars out of people.

To all the people who suggest we are all tall poppy haters, you may be correct. BUT, Lara Bingle still comes across as a naive, ostentatious b grade celebrity who managed to snag her male equivalent. And I still stand by the fact that an Aston Martin is not a practical vehicle, not for her or any one else for that matter. It is a luxury sports touring vehicle and to know it's being used to go from cafe to cafe is an absolute tragedy.

Bawwww, let the thieves have it. It's not like she ever earned it.

Plus, it's not like they're going to flog it to death in a suburban park then leave it burnt out in Thurgoona/Deer Park/Cronulla/Inala/Kwinana/Murray Bridge/wherever after going to the efforts they did to steal it. It's most likely going to find itself a loving owner who treats it right, and probably in an exotic locale too.

I wonder how much this vehicle would go for if it ended up in the damaged vehicles lot at Pickles?

Read back a page. It's been recovered.

While I don't think it's an appropriate car for a young inexperienced female to be driving to the shops and cafes, (I personally would be too scared to take it out often, for anything other than a nice long cruise down the coast), good luck to her.
It was an engagement present from her man.

I'd definitely pick it, over an engagemnt ring of the same value. They can both get some enjoyment out of it.

Good for her then. I still hold my sentiments about her ease of income vs how hard shes worked for it, but that's not to say I am opposed to her owning and driving such a nice 'car' solely on a green eyed principal or of her being the superior breed or an almost celebrity or other such stuff (if she takes care of it that is - it is, after all, part of the Ford family!).
Just the way I saw it, if it were gone it's not like she's really lost anything she's worked hard for.

P.S. $250-odd would get one hell of an engagement ring, but yeah I too think the Aston a nicer gift XD.

The report I heard on ABC said it was likely that the spare keys were left in the glove box of her partners car, this is important as Aston Martian believe its impossible to steal these cars and that those who took it must have access to a key.

Having said that I have no idea of who she is and I only have a vague idea her partner is involved in cricket, an activity I think is more boring than watching paint dry.
