I'll find out... I know that Andrew Hawkins' production company is filming it. It got a bit of airplay a while back. It certainly won't be live.

There maybe tv coverage after the event, nothing is set in stone yet but it is 100% confirmed being filmed to go to video.

If it's going to video I will definitely buy it. The TV coverage I doubt will do it justice even if it does get air time.

it will be interesting to see the power down they get with 900-1000hp and only R Tyres....I hope they arent going to run Supercar spec wheels, they will need more rubber than that. I'll be heading out for sure.

Meg does that look like the ex WOW V8 Supercar? The colours seem strangely familiar...

Latest update:

Quote:

Hot off the press are these preview pictures of the planned livery of the Fernandez XR6 Supercar . This car has been the topic of much discussion since it was announced the V8 stalwart would be competing in the World Time Attack Challenge in an ex- V8 supercar fitted with a high powered XR6 turbo engine. The lights have barely gone off in the Sydney based workshop over the past few weeks as the crew work to a super tight deadline to have the vehicle debut at Eastern Creek on May 21st. Whilst this may seem like an impossible task, it is important to remember that they are simply “repowering” an existing race car and with a highly experienced crew supporting him things appear to be happening very quickly. The car they are using as a base is the 2007 Fujistu car that Jose actually ran with Jason Bright complete with Ohlins dampers, blade sway bars and the extensive roll cage that is a V8 supercar. The final engine is being assembled as we speak with all the hotrod goodies supplied by Fabre Australia and an amazing turbo setup from the gurus at Plazmaman and tyre support from Dunlop. As Jose made clear to me when we spoke. “We started with an existing race car so most of the sorting out is already done, and therefore when we hit finally hit the track we should be in the ballpark almost off the bat”. We will keep you up to date with the progress and look forward to seeing this car on the track in May!

I must say that was very good to watch, though. In that respect you're right, there's plenty more time to be shaved off.

One thing comes to mind watching that; it's not how fast you go, but how you go fast. :

I hope they do something with the aero on the car. Im pretty sure I rememebr reading that the BF had to have a modified aero package when the VE was released for parity.
IE the VE couldnt get the same down force on the front as a BF so they had to modify the front splitter. Basically what Im trying to say is a V8 super car has a compromised areo kit to suit the rules, where as for this purpose they could actually build a kit the works a lot better.

The 34 won't beat it, it's got zip ties on the shifter xD

Was a nice vid, I do like the 34's looks and all, but this Falcon I6T contender will be great to see out there! I'll have to watch clips on the net though I'd wager.

I was reading somewhere that it was to have a F6E Typhoon Xr6 Turbo engine in it. cant remember where I read it, but that's what the article said.

I think we wont know the full power of it untill it hits the track. we've had 600hp, 1000hp, 900hp and now 800hp.. hmm...

I don't care how much HP it has, after all the work that has gone into it, I want to see some decent lap times. That's the point of the car.

look Wretched, there has been a considerable amount of work that has actually gone into building it, but when I asked Jose about it at the recent Clipsal 500 he mentioned that he hadn't started on it, which suggests to me that there has been alot of long hours at the workshop to complete it.

The point of the whole car to me is to show that big boxy looking cars can still compete with the best of the Evo's, Rexy's and others. I applaud him for thinking of something different, but with all the effort and hard work that has gone into it I fail to see how it will actually be a winner.

I wish Jose and the team all the best for a successful debut of a big boxy car in World Time Attack.

In that vid i absolutely lost it with the car with the big Spoiler 1.5m in the air on its nose.

Seriously though it is about competing while also being different. People always remember the unusual or the the unique, always good in terms of marketing.

The colour scheme looks really good. I hope he performs well. Probably needs a better aero kit though. At Eastern Creek this will be a tough gig. At a track like Bathurst this would be a belter! Add in some local knowledge and Jose would be looking good

I'm really keen to see this thing on the track, I hope it will be on tv! Watching something like this would be far more interesting than V8 supercars.
