We did go the F3. Timing was a big issue getting up and back (fitting in with other people etc) so going the Pacific Hwy was out.
I agree that doing 80 in a 110 zone is a pain, but he law is the law. With 3 lanes most of the way we got overtaken by everything (including trucks). My big issue is getting all those hours in the book without: 1. making hours up and 2. 100s of little 15 min to the shops and back driving on the same road very time to get milk (just to get more hours in the book again) I spent more time talking to my son about cars and driving going to Canberra and Belmont than I ever did at home with Foxtel, phones and the Internet getting in the way as per usual. just to make you feel better about being a 'rolling road block', at least you weren't doing it in peak hour on monday morning in the rain like i saw someone doing this morning, or driving in the centre lane in afternoon peak traffic this arvo..
and as you say, you have to get the hours up somehow. i know they have a section for night and wet driving, do they have one for freeway or long distance driving at all? |

Being a road block on a two or three laned road is better than on a one lane road. One can only hope that those behind are looking ahead and anticipating a lane change and re-entry into the lane ahead of your son. A lesson can be learned from this and you can make your son aware of how it should be done (hopefully) by keeping an eye on those around him. Another lesson learned on the freeway of life.
I watched one day as a truck pulled out into the right lane well before said L plater then the car in front of the truck wasn't watching, roared up behind L and didn't see truck and pulled out right in front of him. Truck tyres make a lot of smoke and in this case luckily no accident happened but all that could have been avoided if more attention had been paid to cars in front. I saw it all unfold 200mtres in front of me and I was off the loud pedal as soon as the truck moved right. The stupid car driver got a blast of my horn and a certain wave as I passed along with almost 4 others who were nearly involved as well. Uncle Ken you sound like the type of father and teacher that there should be more of. I salute you.

So how can a Victorian police officer write up an infringement for an offence that isn’t even on the books down here?

I live in queensland and on my last few months on my greens, if i cross the border into nsw, am i restricted to the 80km hour limit or is it just the case for nsw p platers,
