New Ram 1500 is coil sprung at the back now. That should cruise like a dream. F150 has longer leaf springs, they give a softer ride too. The mid size Japanese don't have comfortable seats either. They are usually smaller, more flimsy seats. My seats are big and supportive.

I saw a few of these on the road in the USA. They aren't designed as a tradies vehicle. More of an SUV / Camping machine than anything, the tray design cant be used as well because of the sloping sides, and it didn't appear to able to have racks fitted.

If the Crewman came with a diesel option, and the back seats had foot room (lets face it, they were worse than a Hilux in the back) I would have no doubt in my mind the car would have been a success. But with the tax benefits of diesel for farmers, combined with better fuel economy, the Crewman died a painful death. It was in theory a great idea, but the actual product was a bit of a dud. While I would not buy a V8 duel cab ute, I can definitely see the appeal, you only have to look at Hilux sales and the amount of those cars being used as family vehicles.

Ford does have the Explorer Sport Trac too, wit could work in our market?

Sport Trac is coming to an end. Ford was going to bring out that F100 concept, but I think it is focussing on the EcoBoost F150 instead.

im in a position where no one car suits my needs, i need 4 doors (kid), and a ute (work), preferably with some performance. im limited to the damn ugly crewman so i now have 2 cars. in short, if there was a decent 4 door V8 ute id definantly be in the market

once again people on these forums are putting too much focus on engine output. unless im mistaken this is still a hilux and is built to suit offroading. when i say i want a performance vehicle im talking about the whole package, not just the engine.

in no way am i having a go at you, but people on this forum, and every other forum put too much weight in peak figures instead of a nice linear torque curve and the package including brakes, suspension and weight distribution to compliment it.

lol, all good, have a go,, i dont mind

the trd setup uses a supercharger, and when i drove it it felt really strong down low.
and imo, a hilux hasnt been built to go offroad sinc the early 90s.

take one for a test drive one day, you might be surprised.
or you may hate it lol.

i have driven one, i was disapointed and im addicted to superchargers. not many cars that are released supercharged in stock form excite me, thats why the new blown coyote doesnt inspire me.

back on topic lol, id love to see a ford dual cab V8 or 6t whether it be RWD or AWD

What about The SVT Raptor, there is a duel cab out at some point and the Single cab more than has my interest, would something like that sell in our land of Aus?

Seeing you can get base model auto V8 F150s BRAND NEW for about US16 grand in the US, I have a feeling F series pricing was a bit rich in Australia (although still good value).

I would take a F series anyday over the crap asian dual cabs we get in this country.

If there was a decent V8 (250kw+) powered, dualcab ute, with the ability to fit at least a 7' tray, carry a ton, tow 2 ton, and it was priced under $60k, I'd be racing you to the dealer. Fuel economy be damned.

ADR compliance and the conversion costs would have been the root cause behind that. The actual price gouging came later after they stopped getting imported.
