Geez makes me think twice about flying over to visit family tomorrow, flying in to Brisbane and then driving up to Bundaberg for the 4 days and then back again. Maybe I should hire a boat instead or at least get a Falcon with floaties

I drove on the road to bundy yesterday and the sunny coast the day before.
The roads are in very bad condition with quite a number of potholed areas that have been slowed to 60km/h. There was water over the road but not deep. You can fly to bundy from bris. |

Man - feel sorry for you guys, seems like Noah & Ark will soon be arriving, drive safe and stock the fridge up in case.
Totally different over here in the West, dry, dry, dry ( not trying to rub it in) but totally opposite to what you guys are experiencing, 38 - 39c forecast for the next week. |

Drove from Brissie to Bargara last night and apart from the rain most of the way the only really bad patch was North out of Marysborough for about 15km. Found out this afternoon a cyclone had crossed the coast near Cairns.n

Local news in NQ are again showing how much love there is during the holiday season.
People are trying to jump ques at closed roads, running through barriers, arguing with police, whinging there arent any toilets or facilities... Seriously people what retarded planet are they from? Since the dawn of creation of the Bruce Highway its known that in wet weather the highway closes. Its been bucketing rain for 5 weeks now from Ayr to Innisfail. There has been numerous news reports about the wet weather as well weather warnings about flash flooding being scrolled across most TV channels as well as the news papers. And what did it amount to for the mental morons out there? They still left on their trip and now they all have a whinge that the police ruined their trip because they closed the roads... Funnier (yes i laughed) was watching a P plater in his little silver car trying to cross a flooded causeway on the news. The car promptly floated away in the torrent and he had to jump for it. Obviously all the cars stopped by the side of the road were just sight seeing.... Its still bucketing rain here and its not likely to stop for a few more days. Over 300mm has fallen in most areas here in the past 3 days.

Drove into Bundaberg this afternoon for a look around and one of the parks is that flooded that there were a few jet skis out and about, should of stopped for a photo but didn't want to hold up traffic and didn't want to park on the grass as the Falcon would still be stuck there.

Yup.. and all it does is tie up valuable reasources and wastes money on people who are too stupid to wait...
Also found it a bit um...dis-heartening to hear that there were tilt tray operators charging up to $150 to cross flooded roads because only trucks and 4WD allowed to cross in certain areas. If this is true... then one really has to wonder at how low some operators are? Considering that it costs around $40 to cross most of the city here and they are charging tripple that for a few hundred meters?

No a ferry service.... User pays yes ok, but $150 to travel maybe 500m ??? Like i said it doesnt cost more then $40 or $50 to get a tilt tray within the city limits here. And I wonder how insurance goes if somehow the truck goes into a big pothole or drives off the road and into deeper water? As ELGT said, a fool and their money are soon parted

was on te "7 news" tonight something about a young bloke that drove his car past other parked cars so he could take photos of the flooded roadway. his car washed away and cops had to help him and take him home. must have wanted a real close up pic and his zoom lens wasn`t working. idiot.

Yeh because teenagers normally never do stuff like that.
I know I didn't........well more than a few hundred times. Don't you ever worry about drowning, the water could never be deep enough to endanger you on your high horse....... |
