It'd be interesting to see what the breakdown of sales were, ie. I4 vs ecoLPI vs I6.. still a massive percentage increase over the last few months either way.

Maybe the two Cruze models I test drove were bad examples, because I found the equivalent Focus to be superior. Exterior panel finish was much better, material quality, interior fit, textures and buttons much nicer. But each to their own, might have got a few dud test models?

Great sales for the Focus BTW. Great to finally see the Focus getting to sales it deserves, albeit with huge discounts on the base model, though dealers I spoke to when I purchased mine said the Titanium was the second best-selling model after the Ambient. Also great figures for the Fiesta!

And with a build rate of 30/day for EcoLPI versus 4/day for Ecoboost, it should be fairly easy to work out total sales across Falcon and Ute

(PS, build rate info previously supplied by Bossxr8)

Why would Toyota give the punters a decent car when the punters buy what they are given? Commodore was like that for years. AU, BA both better than the Commodore equivalent, but people still bought the Commodore.

...and it is fair to combine Territory and Falcon (and non-Falcon badged Falcons).

Dont get too excited. Last time Falcon did those numbers it still wasnt enough to gurantee a future. The difference now of course is higher Territory numbers with a higher ATV thanks to diesel, but it might be touch and go at best.

But the overall market increased 15% in June (compared with May). That equates to 15,823 more vehicles sold in June. If Ford's increase was only 800 out of 15,823, or 5%, how is that positive?

Well, at least Corolla has a 6-speed manual and 100 kW. Look at Ford's own Focus. 1.6L engine with 92 kW, and a 5-speed manual.

Corolla also has concealed windscreen washers (on the Focus they are ugly and exposed on the bonnet), while the Corolla also has LED tail-lights, which Focus lacks on any model. I'm not biased in any way here, I just think it's unfair to dismiss the Corolla entirely.

Yes, and the market as a whole was up 15%, so in real terms Falcon was up 25%. All vehicles that are big with fleets usually record big numbers in June. It's nothing new. Comparing the figure to June 2011 would be more useful.

That's true but let's be realistic, most people opt for autos these days in just about everything, and all fleet Corollas are auto. Plus the Corolla is very popular in North America where 90% of cars on the road are automatic. With the huge budget they have to develop the Corolla, and the massive global market it's sold in, a 4 speed auto in 2012 is pathetic.

And what difference do concealed windscreen washers and LEDs make when the car rides like a horse drawn carriage and has deafening road noise?

Local ford production is the highest since November 2011, and poeple still find ways to bring Ford down...

IIRC VW has been pushing sub-4% interest rates last month, wonder if this is more profitable on a full retail price over discounting the car? Has Ford ever offered low rate deals?

Good month, but expect a big lull next month with 7 down days coming up this month, due to low forward orders for Falcon.

Hopefully these numbers can continue past June, which is always a good month due to EOFY.

Ford don't have a credit arm anymore, so its out of their control?

ford is also doing falcon with 5yr/200000km warranty which one would imagine has a fair impact. i would jump at these sort of deals over a cheap finance deal.

What is a "forward" order exactly?

Can the down days be cancelled if there is a placement for more orders, all will they be back-ordered to August?

Orders recieved for cars which will be allocated a SIDO and tacked onto the production schedule.

Basically any order recieved by a dealer. Orders for Falcon are poor, thats why there are so many down days coming.

Down days can be cancelled with 48 hrs notice. But unless there is a huge surge it won't happen. No down days have been cancelled this year, except for one last week when Broady had to work because the paint shop played up and basically cost a whole days production, which needed to be replaced.

Next week is a week of shutdown, one PDO and 4 down days.

They didn't lose total sales, I'm sure if you look hard enough you will find
at least one company that didn't do as well as Ford...

What's your best guess, a rebalance in a month or two with more work days returning or will Ford tough it out?
If so, would Ford trim Falcon builds and just keep Territory builds the same?
And what about Ute builds, do you trim numbers or hope EcoLPI grows sales?
