There was talk of the new SUV Everest model using rear coil springs.
I don't see the need for a live axle leaf spring set up in these. http://www.goauto.com.au/mellor/mell...257BE20024130A http://www.caradvice.com.au/246545/f...t-from-ranger/ |

Everest looks a fair bit bigger than the MU X from this angle.

Everest is based on the Ranger isn't.
Bloody **** poor effort in getting it to the market considering how long the Ranger has been out. MUX is one dog ugly car and drives like a DMax which is fairly ordinary compared to a Ranger |

So you are whinging about a vehicle taking so long to get to market, but also whinging about one that is a POS because it was rushed to market?
Its probably taking so long because they want it to be right, but also held it off to coincide with the Ranger update. Possibly also waiting for new drivetrains, Ecoboost 2.7 perhaps?

That was done because there is already an Asian Everest in play and its product cycle is different to the Ranger.. Last edited by jpd80; 02-03-2014 at 11:57 PM. |

Fair point, as the Ranger is pretty big.
if it is that size perhaps it will going against Patrol & Cruiser. it could be a better market to play in. Cruiser especially is way over priced and Patrol only offers a 5.7 V8

They could get 180kw/600NM out of the 3.2 without any trouble and that would easily give Nissan and Toyota a run for their money. |

It seems what was shown as a concept will actually mirror the production version. Here are the patent CGI's: http://auto.sohu.com/20140312/n396466308.shtml

So I am not going crazy, I thought it had more than a striking resemblance to the Kluger from the front as well. The Kluger is just a bit narrower in grille height.
They could have done a lot better with the styling of the front.

Well the Grill looks like a copy of the current Kluger but that's about all I see
To note 2014 will see a new Kluger or Highlander as its known everywhere other than Australia. Much like Pathfinder they are starting to look more like People movers.

Seeing as the spare tyre is underneath, I suspect it will only have an 80L tank.
But it would be nice if it had 150L like the Prado.

The Prado is already a great vehicle and as such Ford need to look at it and tackle it head on, why on earth does it sell so damn many, I'm sure Ford have their blinker's on all the time. |

don't forget - it's based heavily off the Ranger. There are some changes most of which have already been noted, but don't expect that suddenly someone has found space to double the fuel tank size

There might be only Prado's in the mine spec in your neck of the wood's but where I am I see family driven Prado's every where. Anyway the Prado has done well since day one just as the Hilux has, so Ford should look on why they have and follow suit, but then again Ford like too play catch up don't they, Hilux has done well for how long now , actually I should say Toyota has done well for how long now in the 4x4/SUV segment and how long has it taken Ford to open their eyes to this market, hell the current Ranger is the only vehicle that Ford has made that can at least compete in the 4x4 market, what have they been doing for so long!!. |

the standard fuel tank in the Prado is only 87L so not much bigger than the Ranger. I realise it's got an auxiliary tank too. Anyone know how that's mounted?
looking at the specs on Toyota's web site I can confidently say that on paper at least the Everest will **** all over the Prado. Will it beat it in real life? I'm biased but I reckon that apart from the range, it stands a good chance. |

Aux tank on the Prado is behind the bumper.

I don't know how you can say confidently that the Everest will **** all over the Prado when details on the Everest aren't even out. Toyota has established a relationship with private buyers in this country with the likes of Hilux and Prado there is no denying that, I am not talking about fleet/company vehicles here I am talking about the private segment and it is going to be a long time for Ford to build the relationship that Toyota has as they sat on their hands for to damn long. |
