My Territory was giving me the sh!!!ts, thirsty as all get out (more than my BF GT) it was comfy and roomy but slow and handled like a bus with cheap plastic interior and more rattles than a baby convention. 95% it was only me driving it. What's the point?

Considered Falcon or XR8, but there was no XR8 available you need to spring for a GS or GT or move to the dark side.

So at the time a mate was trading his A3 2.0 TFSI with 6 speed DSG for a newer model, tells me if I match the dealers offer it's mine. It was cheap enough, I though I'll belt this around a while as a stop gap while I look for a proper car. 12K later I owned a 5 year old 2.0T with 80K on the ODO.

It has opened my eyes. This thing is a ripper. It is the most enjoyable drive I have ever owned. it is easy to drive, easy to drive fast, throw some curves at it it is just an absolute belter point to point. Awesome gearbox, awesome handling, awesome fit and finish, quality of trim, sound system, 17 inch wheels, brakes as good as my Brembo equipped FPV, light and nimble.

I'm due for an upgrade within 12 months and I keep thinking I'll get a Falcon again, maybe a XR6T or F6, but then think F.... that, I'm getting an S3 or a A45, GTI or STI....
You should see me, 6ft 3", hooting around in the daughters A3 S-tronic Cabriolet. It's a blast to drive , even with my head 6 inches above the top of the windscreen.......

Fun is a 2L cosworth YB turbo powered 890Kg Mk1 escort with 330+KW!
No, comparable cost, big car has ever got close in my experience or lap times!

Have to say a like both, but prefer big V8 just in general.
The sound of smaller engines will never be as good as a V8 for starters. Obviously that's just my opinion.
As for more fun to drive I can't really answer that. I have never driven a properly fast small car. No turbo 4 or anything like that.

I loved planting the foot in my old XR6T with over 300rwkw, now I love throwing my Fiesta ST around corners and roundabouts. You can have fun in both, you just need to appreciate what the strengths of the car are and drive accordingly.

Driving home from work today in my turbo 4.. Whooooosh, pur! Whooooooosh pur! As it revs through the dsg gearbox. Fun car feeling that lil bit of rush...

Sure it's no xr6t but in general traffic it feels like your driving it more aggressively

I spent my late teens and early 20s (long time ago now) driving everywhere as fast as i could and while i did enjoy the three v8s i had none of them really moved me like the two ET Pulsars i had, i know they dont compare to more modern turbo 4s but they were awesome in their day ( it used to take a while to get there but i had both of them on the wrong side of 200 ) and I'll be damned if i didnt feel like Colin McRae everywhere i drove, any dirt road was a race track.
I do really enjoy my point and steer auto XR6T now but there is a big part of me that misses ripping through gears and traffic like i was being chased..

I enjoy my V8 its noisy, fast, manual and much fun can be had.
I have a 925kg supercharged plastic car it always wants to just kill you. Its a different kind of fun.

I love a V8 but they are really only fun in a straight line. Just put the foot down and a go for it. Feel the effortless power and hear the roar, but that is where it ends for me.

I currently own a WRX and it's fun all around, except traffic

You get it.. Some of the others have not owned smaller fun cars

It's exactly as you say, it's like your being chased home from work ripping through gears.

It doesn't matter what sort of car it is, if it has a steering wheel and an engine/motor you can have fun in it, give me a GT falcon or a Hillman Minx and come for a ride, i will show you how to have fun !
But don't get me wrong , id rather have the GT.

More fun than a V8 with no hit, but not as much fun as a turbo six when the boost comes in hard.

The power delivery of the average V8 is boring.

BUT I like riding 2 stroke 500cc motorcross bikes. Just for the HIT.....

ITs all about the shove in the seat
