That's brilliant

Yeah, something subtle like that. I'd like the C63 even better if it had the traditional chrome grille with the three pointed star bonnet ornament. It might be less aerodynamic but it looks way more subtle than it currently is.

Most AMG owners prefer to have an AMG badge, it would be a bit like removing a GT badge and replacing it with an XR8 badge or taking a HSV badge and replacing it with a Holden Lion.

Traditionally this is the AMG Bonnet Badge and almost all AMG’s have it though some of the higher end limo type AMG’s have it along with the three point star stand- up badge. They have two badges on the front.

Any other AMG style bonnet badges you may see are usually copied from other interior AMG badges or are special made designs and are aftermarket.

The Three Point Stand-Up Star Badge is mainly for Mercedes-Benz though is interchangeable and can be ordered as an alternative or added to any MB vehicle.

I'm on MB World Forum where a wide range of aftermarket badges are for sale and I've never seen an AMG owner remove an AMG badge and replace it with a stand-up star. Though I've seen plenty of Mercedes-Benz owners replace their with AMG ones.

I don't think that's quite correct. What you called the AMG bonnet badge is actually a Mercedes-Benz badge dating back to 1925, and is still found on all Mercedes-Benz vehicles today.

Close, but no cigar.

The flat badge is usually on the 'sport' models, and the upright star on the regular cars.
My CLK is classed by MB as a sports model hence the flat star. (which is good as the Car-Bra fits nicely )

But they put a bloody great star in the grille so you don't get mistaken for a Kia

Yes it is an old MB badge and I think it was produced when Benz merged with some other company, at least that’s what I sort of remember being told when I visited the AMG factory in Affalterbach and they referred to it as the AMG badge fitted to all their cars and on anything else was a dealer fit.

I’m not expert so I’ll stand corrected but my point being, if you have a badge fitted by AMG to signify an AMG model why would you change it out for something that is fitted to the standard cars.

If you don't want anyone to know it's an AMG, tick the delete badge option.

Personally I think the flat badge is more subtle than the stand-up one and having owned a few MB's I can tell you after the number of times someone reefed at the stand-up star you'll quickly get jack of it. Mercedes does make them flexible but pull one hard enough and they'll come through the bonnet hole and in one case with mine, bent the metal around the nose of the bonnet.

Just my thoughts but each to their own.

That's because some scumbags don't know how to keep their hands off other people's property. I think maybe Mercedes-Benz should look at making retractable bonnet ornaments that automatically retract when the car is parked.

The chrome grille and three pointed star bonnet ornament are to Mercedes-Benz what the blue oval is to Ford. For as long as I can remember, M-B C, E and S classes sedans (and C and E wagons) have invariably come with the bonnet ornament, and I think it's a shame that they're moving away from that now.
