Hey Dr Terry,
Don't you remember the E55 Charger - 340 V8 powered. There is one running in the Touring Car Masters series by Greg Crick. From memory there was also a 360 V8 version, but was only a 2 barrel carby, so was a bit of a slug! |

340 Chargers that were sold in Aus. I think they were all automatics, yes there were talk of bigger plans for the 340, but the "supercar scare" made the manufacturers hold back a bit. Another odd ball that raced at Bathurst in 73, was Ron Dickson's HQ 350 gts 4 door monaro. Last edited by 4stanger; 26-03-2016 at 08:50 PM. |

Yes, PB did race a Ford Sierra, in both 1989 & 1900 from memory.
He re-joined the Holden camp in 1991 with a Mobil VN Commodore. Ford Cortinas were only competitive at Bathurst with the Mk I, in 1963/64/65. Dr Terry |

But it was never a Bathurst contender. There is a big a big difference between importing a small number of V8/auto packages & putting together a HP V8/manual race car program which could last several years. Dr Terry |

IIRC in 1973 Dicksons Monaro was also the racing debut of the 308 Holden engine at Bathurst in Group C. The car did the same number of laps both races, 130. Classed a DNF in '73 and classed 23rd outright in 1974.

G'day all.
Sorry I've been a bit quiet of late. Just transitioning to a new job, so my focus has been taken off the film for the last few weeks. Just quickly, I'm spending a few days with Victorian Senator Ricky Muir over the Anzac Day weekend, heading to a burnout comp at Bairnsdale to see him perform what is surely a first by competing. Just wondering if anyone has any questions for the good senator while I have his ear? |
