Why are you people driving on median strips that it would make him in a dangerous spot?

It's a dick of a spot to park a police car - but who knows what reason/s led to it... |

I am more concerned he is making people overtake on the left, this is a fundamental and classic no no in this part of the world. He is obviously bending those rules just because he can with that badge. He needs to set examples, anyone else do that and im sure he would pounce on them with full force.

Why would traffic be banked up back to the line marking island in not peak times?? Clearly that would only happen in peak times as any other time there would not be enough cars to bank up that far. As a matter of fact there is no traffic banked up at all in the OP photo. Then again all this is irrelevant as someone quoted VIC road rules to make a point in NSW, may be we can find a road rule in South Africa somewhere that someone breached

The rules are the same in NSW:

http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/roads/safe...ic-lights.html So I'll ask again, where is the evidence to back up the claim that they can only be used during peak hour? Oh and if any of you that claim your comprehension level is so high, you'd have noticed that I actually wrote "some states" and proceeded to use Victoria as an example of such a state. |

Sorry mate, I didn't want you to go frantically searching the NSW RMS website so you could loosely apply some law to put your point across. You should have just probably done that to start with instead of the half hearted Victorian Law

Protip, you wont find one from me, because thats not the case and i never said that. I clearly said, those painted medians are designed (the intention of the people who made them), to keep the main lane clear during peak times when there is alot of turning traffic, so the straight up traffic can move freely. The OPs pic doesn't have the lanes banked up, so why would you be in that position, and risk being in an at fault crash when someone is entering the turning lane from the normal entry point! |

OK so old mate is parked in an area that is perfectly legal to use by a road user at any time in the state of NSW.
So yes being stopped there with no lights on is pretty stupid and dangerous and illegal.... only legal way to park there would be an emergency of some type, but then his flashy lights would be on. |

Feel free to post where i said it is illegal to use those lanes outside of peak times ;)

If so, please come drive near my house where 90% of morons buy houses too small, and park their cars on the road instead of the garage. Eventually the road will be clear because you've smashed into them all and they're at the smash repairer. |

Do I run into parked cars...no Would I hit this cop, probably not. Is he parked illegally in a dangerous spot....Yes. You can twist it as much as you like its a trafficable area and hardly comparable to a car parked on a side of a road. |

You're assuming he's just parked there and off doing his shopping. I bet you he has a great reason for being there (and is much better there than blocking the left lane if he just had someone pulled over). If people are retarded and enter those painted area's when not required (when traffic isn't banked up as the picture shows*), adding more risk to being involved in a crash, then i think they deserve to rear end a marked police car and have a holiday from driving Will make the roads safer for those of us who know how to drive. *Thats why if you are driving on the painted area, you must give way to anyone entering the lane from the normal break in the line, cause you know, they only want you to use it when absolutely needed |

Pull the other one mate, theres 100s of reasons there could be something in that area (not even mentioning the obvious emergency vehicle stopped), as to not use it unless you specifically need to (such as when the turning lane is full)! |
