Absolutely. The 4.4 TD V8 is a massive engine, and only get's fitted to superduty F series. It wouldn't even fit inside the Ranger.

You really gotta freeze frame that one.
It is a Ranger, but doesn't look like a camouflaged sort of thing that Ford are testing.
Looks like a lifted last model going by the colour so has probably been modded privately.

V8 in a ranger? Ford testing?
It is not uncommon for car manufacturers to test/calibrate drive train in different chassis/body/country.

Think mid mount corvette under maloo body/chassis and you get the idea.

Even the F-150 raptor in the states is V6....

Oh, and Pressing for details on a public forum from Ford employees wouldn't end well for involved employees- People lose jobs for less.
Competitive advantage and all that, Once it's on the net it's there for ever, time stamped and all.
