Hmmmm. interesting.

They might attract a much nicer crowd, but the loss in sales wouldnt justify it. In the modern world, only one thing drive events nowadays, $$$$$$.

SO, unless something that makes just as much profit could come from it, then they could effectivly do it, but until then, drunken Funk nuckles will attend and me stoopid.

This thread should be a major wake up call to the summernats promoters.

For years they have bragged about their attendance figures, from this thread they have missed out on figures 600%+ bigger than they are getting at the moment. Imagine if sales were up 600% and there was no drunken damage, rapes or fights at the summernats.

The wake up call is right here, though I doubt they will get the hint in time.

I don't believe this thread is an accurate account of votes, i doubt the "morons" in question would even know how to browse the net to vote.

Lol, yes I agree with that... but it does show that a huge amount of people *avoid* the nats because of the drunken morons that invade it.

Hell, i'm one of the drunks... Though I never did anything other than chanting for some boobies to be shown! If that was the worst that happened no-one would be complaining, the reality is its much worse and the event is in serious trouble as a result.

I'd still go to the nats if it was alcohol free, it wouldn't bother me although I do like to have a drink on a Sat night so maybe they could just allow alcohol for that one night. It's not like many families and kids are gonna be out much longer than the fireworks show waiting to see the adult entertainment till 1am in the morning.

I still reckon that eventually it will go alcohol free or at the least they'll only sell light beer.....it happens to all these types of events.

I voted yes, even though I like to have a drink. If I want to get ****ed I'll go to a pub. If I wanna see nice cars I'll go to a car show.

How come there's no crap like this at the Easternats? Or is there and we just don't hear about it?

I go to the Easternat's each year, and from what I've seen, the ****ed people are usually funny-****ed, rather than abusive-****ed. The crowd seems to be mainly true car nuts anyway.

This year was the 3rd nats I've been to and though I was never personaly bothered by any drunks I did see them. There are certain areas they congregate and unfortunatly one of those places happens to be right near the main south entrance so if u go in its possibly the first thing you see,not a great first impression. Yes there is a bar not far away . Another bad area on the cruise route is in the main area closer the horsepower heroes shed and again there is a bar nearby nuf said. For those reasons I avoid these areas but it means I can't go everywhere I please but it is only a small disadvantage. By any means it doesn't stop me from seeing ANY part of the show except the ******** show. I don't remember seeing any drunks in any of the exibitors sheds h/heroes shed or elite car shed or Sundays sound off area. As usual the Dickheads aren't interested in the show or cars just the **** so the bars should be kept away from these areas. Bathurst races aren't much different and again I stay away from the ******** areas but it doesn't stop me from going and enjoying myself. I don't like the drunks as much as the next person but I realise it's hard to regulate though the nats is a smaller area and mostly fenced so it should be easier to have mostly alkahol free. So come on Chic get a bit tougher on the ******** element and watch those attendence figures skyrocket.

I think I'd more be more likely to attend if it was alcohol free! I like a drink (and too many drinks) as much as the next guy.
But the constant reports of fights, etc from summernats just screams bogan picnic. No need to ban alcohol just make sure its corralled off well away from the main events. Most of us are there for the cars,

I haven't been to Easternats, but to be fair to Summernats it's not that bad. Of course there will be some drama when you get 1000+ cars & 100,000 people in the same place, but I think a lot of stories get blown out of proportion sometimes. There's no way I'd camp there if I ever felt myself or my car were in any danger.

Banning alcohol would just calm the crowd down a bit & re-focus the event back towards the cars.

Definately. Alchohol isn't what makes the nats what they are, it's the cars.

I love to drink (no I sound like an alcoholic) but I still voted Yes.
I like to wind down and relax other use it as a tool/reason to act like a F**KWIT!
I have been in two years because of this (plus other reasons). Some people are more iterested in drinking and yelling things at girls and the cars. Isn't it a car festival???? not a chick flashing and alcohol drinking venue???

It it possible for this information to get to Chic Henry, Summernats promoter?

As I don't drink !I voted yes.
How ever It would not be possible to make an event as big as this alcohol free.
Unfortunately blokes are blokes and they need drinks.
It would be nice if there was a way to limit the supply of alcohol !!( i know this is not possible)
As bad as the guys are, The girls who want the attention absolutely love it as well !!
I have been every year for the last 14 years, and have noticed a huge improvement, when alcohol was not allowed to be brought in.
I know it is not perfect, but must say there are ways of still enjoying the event. and walking around with your skimply dressed girlfriend on sat night is not one of them.

Just gotta realise Guys will be guys and gotta be wise about it.

That is a derogatory comment and it's not only the "skimpily clad" girls that get that treatment, its any girl, full stop. I was walking behind a girl that was getting taunted and she couldnt have been over 14 years old. This is not what people come to the summernats to see. I bet that girl didnt want to be treated like that.

As for the point you are getting at by the "skimpy" girls asking for it, come on, a girl can wear what she wants, but that gives males no right to taunt her like that.

Not having a crack at you, just making my point...

Voted Yes.

I've been twice and never again until the d!ckwad element is removed.
My mate had his '69 Camero damaged by tools (jumping on the bonet) while we were cruising around the complex.

As for contacting Chick why not try via the summernats website (www.summernats.com.au) ?

hmm this is interesting. There would be a fair bit in lost sales, but look at how many more people just here have said that they would go back now if its cleaned up!

Ive never been, I always seem to forget, then the next thing you know its too close to take work off.

it would be interesting to see what happens if they have a trial ban for the next summernats. just to see the reaction and the sales/profits.
it could make the few dickheads wake up, and realise that alcohol is not what the event is about. and for futute years, they may have learnt their lesson

I would still go for sure.

I think alot of the idiots use the Nats as an excuse, for a big ****up.

I have a couple of JD Slushies, but that's not what the Nats is about. It's about the cars.

I could go with out it no problems at all.

Yep! the whole event has had a "non family friendly" "bogan" stigma attached to it for many years, women get treated badly... im not saying id return, but alcohol free would certainly clean the event up allot, and it would make a good start. If classic Factory musclecars were more well respected and became a proper part of the event id consider it.

I won't go for the simple fact that I could not stand that many bogans/idiots in one place at one time...remove alcohol and I would probably give it a try. Oh and this thread is a year old...lol

In this age of drink driving awareness when you think about it, it really doesnt make sence to mix cars and alcohol at the same event does it...

i have an idea, (yes it hurts)
at the entrance gate, you pay for say 3 drinks (or however many), and they give you a card for the day which is stamped every time you go to collect said drink/s, when it is all filled out, they cannot get anymore drinks,
The people at the gate can check i.d before they give the card, and put the time and date on it to stop people going back for seconds.
im not a business man so this would need to be fine tuned a bit, but you get what im saying??
so, chic can keep his JD and VB sponsorship and would further promote the responsible serving of alcohol. which could get some of the local 5-0 off his back,
it would also be good for the "family friendly promo" they are pushing so hard...

my 2c. cheers.
