Yeah i agree, and all of these shows take pot shots at the country and culture and generalised way of 'thinking' over there and around the world for that matter. Futurama is also great for this, being done by Matt groening along with the simpsons. There is usually a sarcastic undertone in every line that is dialogued on those shows.

Generalising though, yes it seems sarcasm is a lost entity over there, and yes i agree with the notions that they think they're the (geez that's a lot of t's) only technological culture on the face of the planet.

I'd chalk it up to not being here. They could have run a monkey and I would have voted for it because Kerry was so bad. Same thing with Gore in '00.

Why was Kerry so bad? I was in the US during those elections and I didn't see anything that seemed particularly wrong about him, except the shape of his head...

To me, it was the way he backpedaled. "Flip Flops" was the term that got ran around here. I also thought it was pretty ИИИИty of him to brag about his purple hearts, while during the anti-war (vietnam) protests, he threw down his purple hearts in protest "because everyone was doing it".

The impression I got was that Kerry would say whatever made the largest number of voters happy. While I'm not exhonorating (sp?) Bush, he comes across (and I believe is) someone who does what he says, even if it is unpopular, and I like that a lot more than someone who changes with every whim.
