Awesome News Mike - Well Done...

Wish I could get my dream car for $1000 :voldar02:

I am sure your boys will love spending time with their Dad learning about all the ins and outs of the car... The only problem you will have is that they will both want ownership of it one day.

Cheers, Tori

Firstly congrats on the find... Hope it does turn out to be the genuine article... Wish I could come across something like that for my boy, he is only 4yo so I've got a bit of time I guess... My old man bought an XC GXL Fat Ford new and I remember him letting me "help" him when he was working on it... Always had a soft spot for the fatties.

Just out of curiosity I hit Redbook for a value on the XA GT Coupe... So is
9-13k really all you could expect for one of these babies...???

Redbook is absolute rubbish, never use it to get a true indication of a cars value! espicially classics like the XA GT coupe

That's why I asked... It seems pretty close to the mark with regard to car yard pricing for your average family car but those figures seemed a little too conservative for the GT...

Holy crap that is one sweet find even if it is not a GT $1000 for a coupe is a bargin even if it does need heaps of work. I hope you end up getting it and I hope it is a GT good luck.

Check out the XY P3 value, only 100k or so off the mark.

I couldn't find one and I travelled over 1300km's looking for one. Gave up looking and ended up with a sedan. Crazy thing is 6 months ago I found one and my brother bought it.

not saying its not original, as you could easily put 4 wheel disc brakes on it. But just want to point out that I'm pretty sure the XA's did not come out of factory with rear disc brakes...

good find and congrats. I think ANY coupe xa, xb or xc for under $5,000 is a steal, regardless of how much work is needed. They are just so rare. Post some pics.

You lucky bastard. Don't worry about the noises out of the bottom end. If you're doing a rebuild, she'll be fine, as long as the block is intact.

We're all going to feel VERY let down when this thousand dollar coupe turns out to be an XD that's had a serious rear-ender...
