Not sure if it's still the case, but Mercedes used to give huge discounts to workers in Germany at the factory. I saw it on TV once and then about twenty years ago a friend visited family in Germany and his uncle worked for MB. My friend was surprised that his production-line-worker uncle of modest means was driving a mid-range Benz. Of course in Germany even the taxis were MB's.
Turns out they got something stupid like a 50% discount, however they had to sign an agreement they would keep the car for at least two years...presumably to stop people buying a new Benz on their employee discount and selling it for a profit, then repeating the process. |
