dry ice is carbon dioxide - it doesnt burn. dry ice in your airbox will evaporate and get sucked into your engine - killing your cars performance more than removing a couple of plug leads...

You want cold air?

Just connect your Air conditioning up to the air box, wouldnt be that hard...

Although you'll lose it inside the car..

How cold is too cold? I suppose cold enough to form water vapour might be detrimental?

I think some liquid nitrogen injection may be needed for good cooling.

liquid nitrogen gives off CO2 and your engine wont really run the best

Has anyone seen the cryo systems???? They are a co2 intake cooling system thats meant to be pretty good. You fit this ring into your intake piping and pump co2 through it this freezes the ring and cools the intake air passing through it. Note none of the co2 enters the intake it is discharged somewhere else. They also have intercooler sprayers. They claim to significantly cool the intake charge. i cant find the link.

ive seen the Co2 sprayer setups on intercoolers before.. also seen guys spraying the intake and intercooler with a bottle of it before a dyno run (get it all icey cold;)

being a gas it would cool better than a water sprayer setup.. just cost a hell of alot more than a water sprayed setup to refill and probably setup cost

Why not have liquid nitrogen encases around the intake? Maybe it can blow us to smitherines?

So effectively you are making a thermal insulated enclosure (rather than an actual box) that is designed to take air from the front and hold a pod filter of sorts?

no cost ,using old printing plates (very easy to work with) cutting 2 sides of box open can either fit orig panel or big 5-6 inch K&n pod
once painted black will look stock

so far healthy gains in noise ,pwr and lower intake temps ,Ive had earlier versions made checked on both dyno, datalogging on road when getting edit done
backed up my pb yesterday into the 25+kph wind ,with just this CAI and phenolic spacer being only mod ,no final touch up on edit for these 2 added mods yet

the money saved VS the gain has been very successful
Keep at it useless it will work

Holy ghost...its dropped intake temps by 10 degrees and its not even sealed yet! Needs to be sealed and a combo of my ideas thrown in.!! Then on to reduce the total underbonnet temps!!
