As for the VE, well i'm undecided on that one. I've seen a VE sedan shell, and i think the HSV models will look hell-sexy, base models dont look that good.
theres always talk of the third shift at holdens elizabeth plant (where i work) being canned, won't happen for a while tho. we've lost a few ppl recently, but not many, and most of them were casuals.
we have been building a lot of monaros tho, so they must be going somewhere.......
i know for a fact a lot of em are heading for the middle east.they must be selling em over there cheaper than a camel lol!

only we pay top dollar for them here, i guess if u were smart enough to buy up property 5 years ago the cost of a new car is small , still p1sses me off that the aussie built monaro is cheaper in the usa and cost more to produce...hope the gready car makers made the best of the latest BOOM as we are heading for interist rate rises and slower car sales

There are some very ****ed of GM-Pontiac dealerships in the states who have lost out from this car so it makes sense for them to kill the program. Lutz stuffed up by looking for a cheap way to deliver a GTO to the market.
I tend to agree with your comments,so you have another supporter here.

It would be sad to see any locally built car disappear from production. Australia isn’t a pimple on the ****-end of the world when it comes to global manufacturing, so anything that can be built here is a bonus, not only to the consumer but to the economy as a whole. Sure we may pay higher prices for some items, unfortunately that’s life. The Government has a lot to do with that, we don’t have the population to sustain many different models in this country, hence no RHD Enzo etc. We need the big four manufacturers producing cars here to keep things in balance. Think back a few years with the AU II Falcon and how they offered scheduled servicing with them (free servicing up to 60,000 kms) well this didn’t apply to utes as the ute market was dominated by Ford and Holden. This was only for the people who may have considered a Magna or a Camry, Ford dangling the carrot because they had to. If it wasn’t for the Japanese car manufacturers we wouldn’t have a 3 year 100,000 km warranty, Holden and Ford only have this now because they have to, not because they care about our wallets. It wasn’t that long ago that Ford and Holden had the ‘you beaut 12/20 warranty’. How do you think this would go down in today’s marketplace? It would be a sad day if the Monaro was to cease production.

Cheers, Danny

I personally like the look of the Monaro, and if I were a red blooded man, in my circumtances I would probably buy one, my old Boss had a silver with red trim, and it was a nice vehicle, it will be sad if they cease production but then again they had this segment all to themselves's, it's not like Ford had a answer to the Monaro???.
