Ya have 2 carry your licence if your on your P's n L's in vic, one of my mates got a random breath test done n he was asked to show his licence, he left it at home n he had i think 7 days to go any cop station in vic to show it or he wil be fined.. confusing..

bit like the free roadworthy checks we get now? but id still prefer to pay the $60 as opposed to the $500 for the nice yellow sticker

In vic you can get an on the spot fine of $50 for not carrying your license on you if you are on your L's or P's. It is a condition of having those permits.

If you are on your full license, as i understand, you cannot be booked for not having it on you, but may be required to present it at the local police station within a set time frame.

I was pulled over leaving the pub a few weeks ago for a breath test and license check. I didnt have it with me because i was driving the missus car. I know my license number from filling in my log book so i gave the officer the number, name, address, dob etc. He checked it as said no worries and let me go.
Mate got pulled over in his brothers xr5 on saturday because the local copper thought his bro didnt have a license at the moment, not realising it wasnt him driving the car, but still made my mate front up at the cop station with his license. Some are helpful,some are lazy and arrogant.

Guess it depends who you strike
