She already has the block of land. We bought that for her when she was born. Smack bang in the middle of Droin. As for the tow vehicle, I guess i will just have to keep looking.

Lasers are great little cars really easy to work on too, I should know, Ive done 2 engines and around 4 gearboxes in 2 laser, mine and a mates. KE and mine was a KF, sold it with 295000 on it, she was unstoppable until i flogged the ring out of it, but 350 for an engine from wreckers and 185 for a gearbox here and there and an afernoon to fit either or. was great and learned alot thanks to that car.

I am glad to hear so many nice stories about them. My Wife and I had been looking for some thing for a while now. So when this came up and for the price, we thought we couldn't go wrong. Who knows in a couple of years time she may move it on to some one else.

I reckon your daughter will be happy with the laser!
I said I'd never own a small car and i got a cortina, but thats different biggish motor in small car! Then i got a 88 laser 1.6 5 speed and its the car i wish I'd had as my first car! Its so reliable, and the damn thing will run on the smell of an oily rag! I cant say enough nice things about my Laser! (oh and go the turbo! |

I have a 1985 KB for a paddock basher & the only bad thing i have to say about it is that its a FWD. I love it & its copped a hammering & it still goes strong except for the fuel pump having a mind of its own....A brief history if your interested is that it belonged to nurse & the nurse carpark at this particular hostipal is at the top of this steep hill. She forgot to put the handbrake on & it rolled down the hill & got itself wedged inbetween 2 houses...ill get photos if you want.

Well it's home. I forgot how heavy front wheel driver were.
It need four tyres, that was a given. Gave it a comp test 175 psi average which for the k's 250+ is not bad at all. Have given it a basic tune and no surprises, Brakes are fine all the electrics work, came with a CD player and She just Love's the red interior light NOT. All it really needs is a dam good clean which she has half done ( had to go to dancing ) I have almost finished the cut and polish then it's of the wreckers tomorrow to find some of the trim bit's and pieces. I will post up some pics of it tomorrow. |

great bunch of guys n gals lots of "ideas" for her to think about! great car .. cheap for parts..(gearboxes break with abuse with a turbo) but other than that.. tops car!! when that motor dies drop in a 1.8 non turbo EFI motor and it will go alot faster with no turbo issues

I think your daughter will have a great time with the car , these are my girl's cars and I had nothing to do with brand/model/bodystyle when they bought them , Mate you've made a good choice. 4 Door as well , as daughter No1 says " 2 doors are a pain in the Butt" :hihi: Daughter No1 , this car has done 228,000k's and still going strong. Daughter No2 , this car has done 188,000ks , ,no problems (previous owner had an "altercation" with his driveway gate , R/H guard) Norm

There seems to a quite a few nice dads here making sure their daughters are safe and sound on the roads (read spoilt). Since there are a few pictures of the rides they got for their little ones, here is mine. Dad (me) flew down to Victoria and drove it all the way back to the Alice. Now that is dedication.
It is a 92 Vitara with about 180K on it. Nice little girls car.

My first car was a KE Laser Redline. Sold it with 238,000 on the clock, still ran like a dream. Never gave me any trouble and I did give it a fair amount of punishment.
I have never had a car since that was so reliable. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh memories! BJ, you sound like a darn good bloke. It must feel great to be able to give your kids a head start? GK

She spent the nearly the whole weekend cleaning it, and i must say to look at it now you would never think it was the same car we started with. Why she even learned how to use the buffer when she polished it. |
