I usually buy Carlton Draught because I drink quite a bit of beer every week and my bank account would be empty pretty quickly if I always bought premo beers. $12 for 3 longnecks - you can't complain. As for VB. I only drink that stuff on two conditions. 1) it is free and 2) im too sober and desperate : Each to their own! |

sleekism, as suggested, try beez neez for your missus. it's rather sweet and if she still doesn't think it's sweet enough then she'll just have to settle for shandies.
i usually buy guinness (cans) to keep in the fridge but i also enjoy XXXX gold which i'm having right now. |

Eamon likes Amstel the best at the moment. He raves about it. I think it is about $65 per slab. He also likes Grolsch which is also a little cheaper. He is getting a taste for Coopers Pale Ale.
As for working class beer... he probably still prefers VB as the SA stuff is just rubbish (such as West End) but he doesnt really drink it anymore. Usually Boags when he goes out.

Hoegaarden is by far the best imported beer - especially on a nice summers day. The pinnacle of the Hoegaarden beers is their Gran Cru variety. Very crisp and clean still with the citrus hint that Hoegaarden is renowned for. On the local front Cascade are now making a variety called Blonde which is full strength and NOT low carb. It is especially good from a tap, but equally refreshing on a warm evening from a stubbie. or try your luck beerstore.com.au but beware it can suck the money from your bank account! |

Coopers Red, Tooeys Extra Dry, nearly all cascades and occasionally the grand ridge wheat beer of theirs or a hoegaarden. Not much a fan of fancy beers, especially if it's a night out, maybe with a big dinner or something though.
That and i've got a TEDy sitting next to me =P |

A few cities have boutique beer cafes that have Hoegaarden on tap. I'm in Brisbane and love the Belgian Beer Cafe in the city for just that reason. They also have many other fine tasting beers. Some are like a meal in a glass. Some are also as strong as 12% too. |

Its like no other beer I have tasted (and thats a long list). For even more enjoyment pour it into a glass. Try for one that is big enough for the whole beer. Build the head in the bottom of the glass as you pour and aim to have it about 2-3cm (or more) on the top of the beer. A very clean and completely dry glass will keep the head for longer too (applies to all beers). |
