If Taronga Park Zoo was in any other state, it would not be looked upon as greatly. Melbourne Zoo IMO is the best.

Sydney is still better for tourism though. Melbourne is still developing nightlife whereas Sydney already has it. Melbourne still has a little further to go, but it is getting better.

Adelaide...closed at 5pm, in bed by 6.
yes,i do concede the zoo is average,it is only the view that makes it good because it is on the harbour,

i heard that theyu have spent large amountsd of money on the adelaide zoo lately and its rated as the best zoo in OZ?

i think melbourne has nicer, quiet quirky pubs etc,but sydney has better restaraunts ,

i think the sydney markets are better,as i felt the prices at the melbourne markets werent that cheap,
sydney also has a fantastic fish market at pyrmont,

sydney does have some good sportstadiums as well ,like scg,and the olympic village at homebush is fantastic, but mcg and tennis centre are fantastic as well!

cmon guys...there's no need for personal statements in here, only discussion about Melbourne & Sydney

I have been to Sydney quite a few times in the past, probably more to do in general up there, but it's too busy, pricey for me and there are signs everywhere lining the concrete walls on the roads

If I had a choice I wouldnt be close to either city, too much hustle & bustle and traffic drive me mad

Only been too Melbourne once, and been too Sydney god knows how many times.

One thing I didn't like about Melbourne was the weather. I wish I had move time there, as I really only went into the heart once (Yarra and Crown Casino), most of the time I was staying out in one of the suburbs, and visited the countryside, which was nice.

Meh personally I love QLD, especially the Sunny Coast.

What would this country be, without mindless arguments, that never achieve anything? lol

Holden vs Ford
Jack Daniels vs Jim Beam
Coke vs Pepsi
NSW vs QLD
NRL vs AFL

Three of those 5 are American - yea, what would this country be without America!

The urban planning fraternity calls the Sydney CBD "Downtown Dallas"!

Maybe you should go half way and hang out in Canberra for a year or so. Then you'll appreciate either city more. I'm presonally headed for Melbourne next month. Mostly because of family and an easy work commute.

Absolutely, i would go crazy living in the city aswell... I dont know how anyone can put up with it day in day out, practically living on top of one another, the traffic, noise, cramped, bleh....

yes, weather influences me somewhat,as i have two young kids, the weather being better in SYdney, there not stuck inside all the time, with the wind so cold, rain and generally cold, winter reminded me of england ,dark at 4.00 o'clock in the afternoon, the kids have cousins in melb and they always have colds and the flu!

I have a friend who is a entertainment promoter, and he told me that the first place that artists want to play at is SYDNEY,most go to MELB as well, but not all, apparently they are told in the u.s.when they come here you must play SYDNEY!!

also more famous people live in sydney, you see rock stars,tv stars, sport stars, actors everywhere, and so many overseas stars when they come to OZ,only come to Sydney or queensland!!

when i travelled overseas,no one new of melbourne, perth or adelaide, they all new sydney, queensland and alice springs, and when you say the name canberra, they give you a strange look lol

I suppose its what floats your boat
but seeing famous people would not influence me in either visiting or living in a city, after all, they are just another normal person doing a job, whether that is acting or singing, but they are not a better person than me or you.
Most overseas bands, singers still play Melbourne, because the promoters know there is good money in playing Melbourne. I think you would find that Melbourne concerts are very well patronised.
But as i said, its what floats your boat

yes probaly true, but you cant say that, because it is like saying take away the eiffell tower from paris,or the rock from alice springs and hollywood boul... and rodeo drive away from l.a, the fact is they are there and thats what makes it what it is!!
