Adelaide as a city isn't a bad place, just because we lack a dragstrip doesn't make our city any less habitable for people. If you like privacy and a small city that's easy to navigate around, Adelaide is a good city. Hope I haven't read you wrong as a "typical Adelaide hater" I just don't like it when people say they hate Adelaide for no other reason than "it's Adelaide".

That's really the only reason I don't like Adelaide, no dragstrip we can use. Otherwise I can't fault the place, especially in summer, I love it. This doesn't stop me travelling to Vic though!!

This motorsport in SA issue that will continue to go on for many years to come just highlights that Adelaide is a backwater state of which has absolutely nothing to offer! No motorsport, no water, no jobs, no intelligence whatsoever!

Just proves that the name "the retirement state" becomes more and more apparent as the years continue!

IMHO!

If you don't like Adelaide simply because there is no drag strip, seriously that is pretty lame. Maybe people need a new hobby or just move.

I have moved 15 times, road tripped to nearly every capital city, and not one thing makes me want to move from Adelaide at this point in time.

As obvious as it sounds, there are reasons why things do and don't happen, just because it doesn't suit some people, doesn't make the whole state a waste of space.

i loved Adelaide ,lol, when i drove through it on my way to Darwin ,thought it looked like a nice place so stayed for a while, ****** jobs low pay,so escaped back to Victoria, loved it even more after that ,yeah in my rear vision mirror going to live in Darwin where i stayed for 5 years,
gotta say though ,it was a better experience than living in Tasmania for a year, but driving in Tassie is lots of fun.car scene in Adelaide was fairly strong back in 86 i had a bathurst Monaro in those days,

yeah those stobie poles looked visious, pie floaters were very nice.when i lived there we used to race from traffic lights at bottom of mountain to eagle on the hill pub and back to bottom, went back down the mountain 3 years later with family in my old 66 XR with hot 302 and 5 speed and shat myself going down around those hairpins on old road ,could not believe the stupidity of when we raced, dont know how none of us ever smashed over the edge. most of us grow up after our early twenties i suppose,or might be the fact we have kids and dont take stupid risks, things have changed nowadays as we did these silly things on our own or maybe with one mate in car, these days it seems the young ones have 3 or 4 mates in car and drive like tools.no responseability or commonsence .

Just wait till whoosha find this thread, he loves to rubbish my city
everytime he drives in he texts me and complains about something, the traffic(but every time I'm in Melbourne it's ridiculously busy in comparison), the weather(I check the state weather reports, it's usually chiller in Melbourne than Adelaide), the flight times at the airport(don't like it, drive back ), he's a good bloke but he loooves stirrin me up! I don't mind Victoria, it's great, except it's full of Victorians...

Hmmm reasons to dislike adelaide.....?

(*inhales like Ace Ventura*)

1. Mike Rann
2. Kevin foley
3. the APPALLING roads
4. soo much congestion for such a little city
5. the retarded amount of speed or "safety" cameras on just about every intersection
6. the ridiculous adelaide media and their almost nauseating need for SA patriotism at every opportunity
7. that stupid cycle race where the premier feels the need to spend $2 million to bring a long since competetive cyclist over to.
8. the fact we don;t have a classic adelaide anymore
9. those stupid trams... which by the way they can only run 8 of at a time or the whole system melts down
10. Victor Harbour - the worlds biggest pensioner theme park
11. The Advertiser
12. the CBD... simply won't go near it... I don't like being stabbed or shot at strangely enough
13. Davoren Park & Whackham: see above
14. the fact we get 2 major motor sport events in a year a month apart from each other then go back to nothing for 11 months (I don't count clipsal as average joes can't enter that where they can with GazzaNats and Mallanats)
15. Did I mention Mike Rann?

Reasons to like Adelaide...

1. Jaf's end of year cruise

... That is all

Everyone knows what is in fritz, meat pies, and sausage rolls, and it is awesome. Makes you feel tough haha

Hey xbrules any reason why you still live here then? I don't understand why someone would torture themselves so much....Seems like it would hamper living a good life, not enjoying the city/town you live in. How sad....

In answer to your question, I have a job here in Adelaide where I get paid over $25 an hour to watch movies in a cinema. I have an awesome boss and a pretty flexible roster so I can enjoy my cars on the weekend. True, the weak as pi$$ rego system is another benefit except that every three months the cost goes up.
