Nice. There used to be an IGA in Gloucester NSW set out like that, total fresh baked goods every day on display.

I dont eat sugar products any more. But the South East Qld IGA s sell marinated chicken wings. I will occasioanally dive in as I did today when working delivering grog -bought $3.05 (six) chicken wings. Ideal for a quick cheap lunch. |

Good luck with that, its a product they add to just about every processed product out there. You will definitely be reading every ingredient on every packaging, including those chicken wings !

Good point, but if I was from interstate and knew it existed, I'd happily make the detour. I think the pies at the Ayers Rock Cafe are now $12, so it would be worth stocking up the car fridge.

Pasadena is ridiculous.
I had to go look for myself after the wife kept coming home with stories and good food. They have a guy playing piano? In the store? GF'd. Yeah, its true. How many different types of olives do you need?! |

Does the pianist play requests? And are patrons allowed to whistle or sing along?
Or do they play mischeviously, like the Baby Elephant Walk when a large person is nearby? |

I've never really taken any notice of what music they are playing, my focus is on the food, bakery, cheeses, cured meats, spices, dried fruit, nuts, fruit/veg from different cultures, supermarket produce from all around the world, best cuts of meat in Adelaide (not the cheapest) and you can sit down in the cafe and have a meal etc inside the supermarket.

I believe the whole complex is owned by a more modern church, ( not denomination) from what I was told they purchased about 40 years ago when the old delapidated supermarket was closed for health reasons, so instead of paying rental on space used once twice a week they bought the complete land package.
Today the rental income more than covers their administration and wages, so they can afford little extras (paino etc) their church offerings all go to overseas work. I could be wrong but its what Ive been told.

They get extremely busy in the last few weeks of December but no surprise as they create a festive atmosphere that I've not experienced in other supermarkets.

Back at Appin St bakery (Wangaratta) today. Had brekky elsewhere but a custom beesting is on the cards for later.
Anyone ever tried semi sourdough bread before ? This is the only place I can find it, it's a lovely soft cross between Pana Di Casa and hard crusted Sourdough.

Beaut just with butter, fresh, paper bag not sliced is the best way to keep it.
Makes great sandwiches (particularly fresh boiled eggs and butter lettuce) but is extra nice the next day simply toasted. Its a softer dough without the bite of the sour but still allows an extra crusty outer crust like sourdough.

Changed the order to Turkish toasted BLT, there is a huge difference in the eating. Eating toasted sourdough is like eating a piece of charcoal.

Perhaps, like me (it's a psoriasis thing and at least I am not also vegan) King Adolf Frederick was gluten intolerant. So apart from death by cinnamon bun or putting my head in the gas oven, any bakery recommendations for gluten intolerant? I do miss my baked goodies 'though Woolworth's gluten free meat pies are nice.
BTW it was 14 of these semlas not cinnamon buns, that got King Frederick: You would think Cav being a cream cake aficionado kent, would know the difference.

Or was that Cva's cryptic semia joke?
A pic of Cav's daily hetvägg/semia intake:
