A couple weeks ago I passed a EF/L wagon that was turning into a driveway, they had their highbeam on and when they flicked theirs down, I put mine on with the narvas turned off... theirs was absolutely abysmal!
Worse than I expected. But my mates 89 Colt's highs is worse... it's worse than my lows! |

You got the coil bit right, what a PITA to get at. Took my bro's EL down to the exhaust shop while he was O/S to get the tailpipe fixed. Drove it home and parked it up. Decided to start the thing to move it a week later to mow the lawn and nothing, cranked but zero spark. Damned thing ran like a charm when I last drove it. Ran all the tests and deduced it was coil. Grrrr!

When i had my EF and modding it, i couldnt put on decent brakes unless i bought the mustang caliper kit with modified uprights, and no decent wheel options available in +10 offset

The constant repairs to electronica and system components...
Stuff that has never gone wrong on my ZD because it does not have it... |

1 steering rack & pump 1 starter motor 2 head jobs 1 fusible link 1 alternator 1 fuel pump Many attempts to seal oil leak from timing chest 2 dizzys (my fault but would not have happened to ZD or any older car) 1 coil (my fault again...) 1 exhaust that cracked and fell off engine pipe And that is what I can remember... I had my revenge though. I eventually had my students prepare it for demolition derby! Just remembered! The steering shaft bearing through the firewall collapsed twice while I had the car... Neither have I. In fact I have owned 4 E series and the only problem I have had in regard to electronics is a dicky cruise control set button. It's just a non issue.

When I had my EL, the dizzy(I think it was), died while I was driving along at 90k's. Steering gets very heavy when there is no power steering.....

In the 21 years that I have had my ZD, it has stopped on me once, when the timing chain on the cam gear slipped a tooth. And even then that was my fault because it gave me heaps of warning that this was going to happen… So no, most of this does not happen to any car. I’m not sure what you are on about in regards to a Subaru air con belt… |

So you're saying we should all go back to carbies, and ditch anything electronic in cars because you have a reliable ZD. Interesting theory.

I have previously had an EF Fairmont as my first car, and now got an EL XR6, and I had no problems with either of them. The only thing I hate is that I couldnt afford to own them both.

The genius design and positioning of the cup holders and power window switches in the EL Ghia's. Perfectly done to ensure many litres of liquid spills over the switches as the years roll by.
Gotta say though, the windows have never stopped working |
