Aero undertray, wouldnt make a rats **** of difference around at slow speeds. if you were using it at 80kph speeds for extended periods of time, say commuting from gold coast to brisbane or geelong to melb etc, it would clean up the airflow under the car, and there would be neater airflow out the back, which would reduce drag, and therefore increase economy. realistically, unless you had a full undertray, your benefits would be VERY minimal maybe 2-4%. With a full undertray, and a rear spoiler designed for aero benefit, and not for looks, you could potentially save 10%.

well, I've had no luck finding out whether to put an undertray on or not from overseas Ford guys, but... Has anyone analysed the fuel savings and effect of the Cyclone Air intake generators. They are designed to create a swirl in the air intake which they claim helps atomise the fuel and products a better more efficient burn/ignition.

Gees you guys are an argumentative bunch , I haven't got the tray yet. I did have a quick look at the parts list to see any difference between the WS Petrol and Econetic and from that quick look it seems the front tray is the same on both cars. So the longer one might be a WT econetic part or it's something up the rear of the car that is different. I'm still going to look under a econetic next time I see one in the yard to find these aero parts

btf-ford, devices that disturb the air in an intake can work on carby fuelled cars just by stopping the fuel dropping out but has never been proven to do anything injected cars. But under trays do work and always have worked, it's just matter of how much. There are entire sites/forums for guys dedicated to modifying their cars in this way and when they go to extremes with aero mods they get crazy fuel economy in old Honda Civics that make econetics look like 6 litre v8s

under tray would`nt do much for aero at low speeds you would`nt think, engine temp i don`t know, highway runs it sounds feasible, one of the econetic features to help make more use of the Aero aids apparently is its also slightly lower than other models, i have been studying the econetic model recently, and i have seen reviews with fuel consumption as low as 3,4 lp 100k which is bloody good.
will be interesting to see how the tray on the standrd model goes. |
