I have thought for a long time now that licences should be graded.
Something similar to motorcycles and or trucks. You don't get upgraded until you pass the exams and show you are competent behind the wheel of that class car. Maybe 3 different grades, as a lot of family size cars are more than capable of high speed. BMW 3 series sedan (not M3) for instance is quite fast in it's own right. A Standard 6 cylinder falcon has the engine cutout set at 180k's and the Holden is similar. No one should be upgraded until they pass an aptitude test either. Recently a young man was killed in WA buy someone drunk, who had had his licence less than 3 weeks. The drunk driver, driving a small 4 cylinder work ute. Out of my mates, there is only 1 who I don't like being in the passenger seat with.
His 0-100 time is 21 seconds(tested down a slight hill). Might take him ages to get moving, but once he does, he drives like a maniac. |
