I can sympathize with some one getting booked slightly over the speed limit but this fool deserves to lose his licence..... He can count his blessings if he gets his car back.

We all can do stupid things but cop the punishment if caught.

Unfortunately, the attitude expressed by some here, treating this way beyond "speeding a little over" offence as a joke, is one of the reasons why the media picks on car "enthusiasts". The other word that gets bandied about is car "hoons".

And now I shall step off my soapbox...

Never treated it as a small incident at all. What im saying is l'm sure most have done something wrong or have taken a risk and pulled it off. This guy got caught as many do and will pay for it. Happened to me, I copped it sweet. Some people here must lead sheltered lives.
In in no way endorsing what he did at all but sometimes it's human nature to push boundaries in varying forms.

Nobody should be doing half the speed limit on an open road in reasonable conditions with low traffic. To hit those speeds there was obviously low volumes of traffic.

Why would he have a blowout? Most performance fords would be fitted with a W or Y rated tire that is good to at least 270km/h. I don't see mass carnage in European news from tires blowing on high speed highways. They manage to pass much slower vehicles only one lane away without blinking an eye.

While I don't condone what he did, as stated before that section of road is first class and no in intersecting roads for kilometers and at that time deserted so if you were to give it a boot full that would be the place to do it.

Anyone who drives on the Kwinana Freeway would know, that less than one person does the actual speed limit. That camera must be flashing all day. I'd say the fines might not cover the cost of replacing the overworked unit all the time. lol

I'm just going to be a stickler here, and say that if there is an old lady doing 50km/hr on Kwinana, than she is just as much a danger as the tool doing 225km/hr.

I watched this episode and they used the 1/4 mile for the test.....Standing start quarter mile. So not a real accurate test, as such...

Same applies with number plate blocking items, where by the speed camera can't pick up a number plate....There are things out there to prevent number plates being picked up by cameras. (Myth busters did a thing on this too)

They also did a test how to beat the breatho as well....Of course, nothing could fool it.

So there is no way the gov't is going to allow something to be shown on the idiot box, that advertises how to beat any of their systems

This thread was good while the light-heartedness lasted.

AFF has become so full of soap box wielding self righteous types it (this thread) was a genuine reliefe from the normal lecturess sermons so eagerly dished out.

I'm too old to be lectured by some of the high brow types around this forum on what I should say. I can take the p!ss if I want.

I'm also old enough to know its not smart, probably dangerous , and obviously politically incorrect to do 225 on a public road ...... and get caught.

Well done.
I have on numerous occasions gone well above that speed and felt safe.
But always on a "Private Road".... and always in cars built for it. E60 M5 / LP640 / E series hsv / but my WRX got to the top speed the fastest ;) .
Would I do it in a Corolla ? hell no.

I think most people have not gone through any pain for doing something stupid on the road, well I have. I was on a motorbike doing about 100ks, had to go around a bend, as I hit the brakes, the bike slid and I hit the fence head first.

I was on a dirt track on private property. Now I ended up with a broken back in 6 places, broken pelvis and a broken rib. This happened in December and instead of spending Christmas with my family, I spent it in hospital.

I wrecked Christmas that year for me whole family. I had to go to rehab and get me walking again. The bone was on my spinal sack, just that 1 mil more I would be in a wheel chair for the rest of my life.

People think this speed is a joke, I was doing half the speed and it was lucky I had a helmet, or I would be dead. I was in hospital and rehab for a month, but it took me 6 months to start getting back to work and getting my life back together, took me another year after that to fully recover mentally.

Now I was on a private proberty no one else around yet I still had the accident. Who cares if the roads are the best, who cares if no one was around, but stuff can still go wrong and it does. Just think of the damage he could of caused if he had an accident. He may of been the only one in the car, but if he killed himself, it will still devastate everyone around him.

And that's the point really and probably the reason the thread has continued.

The absolute majority here would have to say .... Been there done that and survived...............just.

The kid was stupid and will be dealt with by law. I do not believe anyone in this thread is saying "Yay! Good on him!" but can understand as most have been in this position when young and stupid, a feeling of indestructibility, nothing can touch you, everything happens to everyone else and those who are over 40 have no idea because they have never been young themselves.

It is a given that it is stupid and obviously the wrong time and place. That point doesn't need to be said but will still be repeated

I am sure he would be thinking ... "Damn .. that was stupid and this is going to cost me a packet!" Whether learnt his lesson or not who knows. Just hope he is around long enough to say Been there done that and survived...............just in a few years time. Who knows.

Can't believe what I'm hearing here...So those in their early to mid 20's don't care about life or the lives of others? You would be talking about the growing (unfortunately) minority who get behind the wheel after drinking a cocktail of vodka and Red bull coupled with crack wouldn't you?

Now I grew up with some pretty rough dudes and we partied fairly hard in the 1980's , and yes, we drove when we shouldn't have and we often broke speed limits , but not once did we not care about our lives or the lives of others

As has been discussed already by someone in this thread the fact that people can sympathies with this idiot is the reason young blokes are being harassed and targeted as hoons in the first place you cant bemoan the authorities and the self righteous law abiding citizens who read this on the news then demand tougher action on hoon drivers or enthusiasts these people dont care a *** the difference either way they just want these type of people of the road and if that means that us small minority car enthusiasts pay the price with power bans, tougher sentences, more enforcement, crushing cars, ect. the brain washed majority will be the ones not giving one *** that day we are all banned from any decent car and then everyone can sit around and talk about the days boys where boys and things were better in my day maybe we should come out as real car enthusiasts and condemn these types of actions for the stupidity it is and gain some respect amongst the people who hate us instead of sitting here complaining about all the bad people who pick on us.
