I do most of my driving on the highway, especially at night. I found they are really good, similar to the original FG's which is a good thing.

Anyway, shut it off, opened the driver window, and made my own music in the wet short shifting 1st, 2nd and 3rd to about 3,800 and made my own music while doing my own sideways tapdancing to the tunes I was making with each gearchange of that short stubby manual gearlever. Anyways, got to the gym in the right frame of mind. This thing is seriously good fun in the wet, but I have not had the gonads to boot it in the wet on corners between 4,000 to 6250 yet...

Agreed, the sound system is mediocre. Had a FG loan car at my 3000km service, it had the standard sound system and left the premium one in the FGX for dead.
I would gladly sacrifice a lot of the SYNC 2 features for better sound!!

Its definitely a software limiter, if you turn the volume up to say 95% and listen for a while, then turn it up to 100%, it actually gets quieter. I think the limiter cuts in the louder you go and then reduces the volume. Had a Volvo V60 with premium sound which sounded awesome, until the dealer did a software update. The update induced severe volume power limiting which hobbled the amp to the point that it now sounded crap. It was a Sh$%fight to get Volvo to reverse the update until they found a fix. Same thing is going on here. I think software adjustment could fix it. How do you get into service mode?

Great numberplate, almost wondering if it is better than mine? I love my plate, but that is very accurate!

On the subject of plates......
"Kick it in the guts, Barry. She's the last of the V8s. You can shut the gate on this one. It's the duck's guts. Yeah, she's the last of the V8s......" A pair of dark carpark shots I'm afraid but I'm too busy driving. And yes, she still looks as great as below. PS: Hi Callum, if you are watching, I don't want my plates or location on Facebook (ie, the images above are for the A.F.Forum alone). I don't want them shared elsewhere either. Here is a pair of clean images of my car without plates if you are looking for XR8 images (with sources in the links following): This is off the Diamond Paint Protection FB page and that page should be acknowledged as the source of this shot: https://www.facebook.com/DiamondPain...e=3&permPage=1 This is off the Diamond Paint Protection FB page and that page should be acknowledged as the source of this shot: https://www.facebook.com/DiamondPain...e=3&permPage=1 Interesting just how much blue metallic is in Silhouette also, with the daylight shots hinting at it compared to the "shots in the dark". Got an email today talking about "MkII Falcon", but on the link and Ford website it's still all FG MkII!
As for dipping mirrors, I have this on my BF Fairlane and love it. Makes for easy parking to line-up with the kerb.

Yeah- that manual box is a thing of beauty when the car is being belted, I find it very quick, slick -chirp, slick-chirp....
The BMW M3 4 litre had a lighter box, the Porsche boxter had a lighter box which I actually felt was less precise, and although this box has a weight, it is a nice weight and when at speed is precise-downchanges with rev matching at high speed is precise and feels soo good... But- then again I did grow up on those agricultural Borg Warners in the Cortina TE 4.1s... Ironically, feels slow and cumbersome at slow/parking speeds, but comes into its own at speed.

I just find at parking speeds it as a fair bit of travel before it bites- stalled it a few times at pull off until I got used to it. So all up- for me- clutch and gearbox bit cumbersome at very slow speeds/pull offs like parking, changing gear from 1st to 2nd at low speed especially when cold, but the clutch/gearbox are a thing of joy at speed. Off topic- but maybe someone else can shed some light on this. Last night I passed a current model HSV bright blue, either an R8 or GTS based on the exhausts and shape at rear-blasted past him and then slowed down for speed limits- too fast to see if GTS or R8 based on badges. Next lights he pulled up on my left, pull off I held back not wanting to be the knob going for it, he went for it and had a jump, I then went as well, he was very fast, but I right there with him, and then suddenly I think at third gear was pulling ever so slightly on him and he was to my left when I heard what sounded like a massive Pffffvvttt of air or something coming from his engine, and he dropped out like he dropped a set of sea anchors behind him...he then sat behind me for some time some 25 metres behind while going along the highway before pulling off left to go to his destination along another road. Any ideas what happened- if he had a super is there some bypass valve that drops pressure or any clues as to what caused the HSV to make such a Pffftvvvt sound and then be blown away like this?

Ha Ha- I actually had a dream about driving the car before I got it- it was a good dream about power and fun and then I woke up and was disappointed to realise it was a dream.
I have had the car a week now- and the reality is FAR better than the experience in the dream You are going to love it, but you may want to stump up for an intercooler where you live.
