Just out of interest, but does anyone know if a test series has been decided before the boxing day test before?

Bit of a shame to have 2 dead rubbers.....
Good result though in the end.

Fantastic result. Well done to the team and all the support staff around them.
Lets make it 5-0, with Warney to bowl on Boxing Day and take his 700th!

not having simon jones & vaughn would be like not having warne & ponting 4 australia....and i doubt the ashes would have been won if panesar played instead of giles...but yeh that innings by gilchrist was superb considering the context of the game and his recent poor form

Not Entirely Correct... in the modern era the Melbourne test has been the 4th... but only a few seasons ago the MCG was actually 3rd on the list.... It went Brisbane, WACA, MCG, SCG, Adelaide... That was in the days when they played one day matched in between each test... And sometimes if two tours were coming to Australia, They would play 3 tests against each with an additional test somewhere in the middle thrown in, for Tasmania! Also remember that most test series these days are made up of only 3 tests. The Australia versus England series is granted special approval to be played over 5 tests given its historical status..... *pops 5c into the tin* |

So did we kick their butt yet? I don't know a hell of a lot but so long as Australia kicks butt I'm all for it.
