Maybe we should send in some letters suggesting on ways to improve the show? My suggestion? Fire the little guy with the beard!

Can someone please put those 3 blokes out of their misery. If it was on Foxtel would you pay to watch it? I wouldn't. I actually tried watching with the volume turned down! That didn't work for me either, so I turned the bloody telly off! SBS, what an opportunity missed. I honestly can't see the hosts getting any better, their credibility could be argued - they just don't have what it takes. The copycat try-hards are not funny or clever, they're not informative and look so out of place in front of a camera. Sorry guy's nothing personal, but get off my TV and bring back the real deal!!!

Just like everyone else I have to express my opinion. I will watch it again out of curiousity, but so far it sucks!
Filmwork looks nice at times, but you can't see anything in regard to trackwork due to angles shown. There testlap is hard to follow and doesn't look good on film. The host are very nervous and can only improve with time. Not a big fan of any of them. The old bloke shits me. But the worst thing is the shallowness so far. There is no indepth of any of the cars, and I don't just mean fact, but they are absent to. But they are to gutless give opinion on anthing and make incorrect statements. Not impressed so far. Thank goodness for FinalGear, Top Gear and Fifth Gear.

How hard would it have been to re run the 'drag' test again for another take allowing both cars to leave at the same time?
They actually believe that people driving Fords and Holden’s only want to do donuts, what was that like 3 times, these morons give Australian motoring enthusiasts bad names. How hard would it have been to actually give some details on the cars on the show? What did they say about the Ford GT? Very little, lots of crap noise and woos about it. The ute's their was no actual information given on these vehicles as all Im sorry twice is enough, no more. |

That seriously can not be the best they can do. How can they produce such a poor example of a motoring show when they have such a great format to follow.
The first week was bad, the second week was worse. Game over.

Some of these comments could be exactly the same about the UK Top Gear - have you ever seen them start a drag race evenly?
I agree there needs to be some more info given on the cars, eg they didn't even say the R8 & F6 were auto not manual! I definitely agree they should have run the cars around the track - they were testing them at Wakefield which is only up the road from their track at Cambden after all. The lap time could have played a part in the result too. Either that or they should have had all 3 there (with the GT too perhaps) and voted - in any case they need to have a result. Which one would they take home, can't drive 2 cars at once. Same thing with the Kalgoorlie mine test, the results can't have been exactly even. Adrenaline - they were always so close together because they had a 60km/h limit (Steve in the XR6 said at one stage Charlie was cheating because he was doing 65 and Charlie was still catching him). This episode was better, but they still have room to improve. |

Good on SBS for giving it a go.
Pity its complete crap. Who are these tools hosting the show? The UK series presenters are respected by the viewers for calling a spade a spade. 2nd episode had most Ford & Holden fans on the edge of there seat all week waiting, & there conclusion, UMMMMMMM DUUNNHHOOO. At this point my steel cap boot almost made contact with the screen but the thought of missing Bathurst on the big screen held me back. My guess is producers have censored these tools, maybe manufacturers have also put the squeeze on not to have there cars shamed. At the end of the day the Aussie version of Top Gear with its Aussie flavour failed to be the show it should be, like watching a movie with no ending. |

The UK Topgear hosts are extrememly knowledgeable about cars, they know the ins and outs of them and it really helps the show be informative and entertaining at the same time. The australian hosts don't seem to know jack about anything.
And at least Clarkson tells it like he see's it, that why a lot of people love him, he's not afraid to upset someone. Plus he's got a sense of humour the australian topgear hosts could only dream about. Australian TopGear needs to go back to the drawing board. |

I say again....Top Gear UK did the boring everyday cars with stats and all that other BS and the series nearly got canned because everyone wanted the exotic cars and the crazy stunts and mad driving. Leave the boring comparos to Wheels and lets hope that Top Gear Oz will find the cajunas to just go mad behind the wheel with some tops cars doing some cool stuff.

OK, was at camden airport today doing some flight training for a mate of mine, and was shocked to find the only sealed runway 06/24 was closed for the top gear tools. For the last three days this has been the case apparently between 12pm and 4pm so these idiots can look like they know how to drive. So, we were relegated to runway 10 which is a grass strip and which makes it impossible to get larger aircraft out due to its shorter length and higher frictional surface, where we saw a black Jaguar XF being thrashed about the runway and taxiways; aka their makeshift track.
So, on return at 5:30pm and able to use 06/24 again, we saw these top gear guys near on the civilian side of the airport looking around the XF like they had just finished work for the day, so we went and spoke to them. Suffice to say after having to replan our flight to take less fuel to fall into the minimums of a heavier aircraft on 10, we weren't in the mood to blow smoke up these guys proverbials. The topic came up about the show and we were asked by the Glenn Wheatley guy if we liked Top Gear. I replied that I absolutely loved it, have all the DVD's and think Jeremy is hilarious; my mate agreed. The Glenn Wheatley guy asked us if we liked the "Aussie Top Gear" to which my co pilot Martin responded; "Nah, it's pretty much a cheap knock off of the UK one, sorry". Anyhow, the smiles were quickly fading so we took it as our time to leave apologising profusely but wished the best of luck anyway; just not when they have to shut down runways. The guy with the moustache was cool though, the rat was a bit of a blow hard and the blondie was a bit of a tool. Wish they'd use Oran Park though.

Oh almost forgot, they had a HSV clubsport R8 out there all day yesterday according to one of the refuelers, so it is already turning into the "Top Holden Gear Show".
Money talks, and Holden just ensured that the remaining bogans have something to watch.

On a side note: I've never seen such a large amount of whingers, bitchers and moaners in general (not just here). I honestly thought the "fair go" rule would have applied here...bloody bunch of arm chair critics...go have a cup of cement. And I thought Poms were whiney...

I see your point, we do sound like a bunch of whining Poms. Nevertheless, regardless of their annoying personalities, I don't think these guys have the automotive knowledge needed to host a show of this caliber. If they do they haven't shown any of it.
