I'll forward my bank details for the payment if you wish...
And yes, you missed it, well, them, about a dozen people have it already.
I'm not one of them.
I will be receiving it but haven't yet. I intend to put mine in the bank and earn interest.

My wife was a full-time student for 07 and a full time employee for 08. She'll get a payment for working the 07/08 financial year but will she get a student payment for being a student in that time or does she missout because she isn't a student this year?

The one thing I do not understand is this, there are countless people who are angry that the government has chosen to go down the stimulus path, yet they have been lauded by the American and British governments as very wise, and the world bank (?) also suggested the what they were doing was sound economic management, so who is right?

'The trouble is we have never been in this exact place financially before so all anyone can do is guess, also the market is reactionary and for everything to work well, everyone needs to do the right thing. However, most people don't so people with power need to step in and try and fix it. KNOWING what to do is impossible. Anyone who says they KNOW this is the wrong thing to do is mistaken. Anyone who says they KNOW this is the right thing to do is mistaken. All we can do is wait and see what happens.

If we bomb China then we don't have to repay the money and they can't send over their garbage to us anymore. Manufacturing in Oz will come back strongly and there will be 18 billion less people to pollute the planet. And dogs will no longer live in fear of ending up in dim sims..........

Actually, scratch that. It's not very politically correct is it?

Not to mention the fact that most of the steel used to manufacture the cheap chinese stuff is purchased from australia. Because the world has stopped buying from china, china has stopped buying from here and many of us have lost our jobs.

The Olympics is tiny compared to the infrastructure they have going over there.
China has slowed down big time so why would they buy so much of our minerals and let it sit there.

Same as if they ran Ford Australia

Mate of mine was asking if I received the payment cause he is worried that his may have been taken from the letterbox as his neighbours seems to have been. Does anyone know if you can ring the ATO and see if yours has been sent out yet?

The ATO website states that the payments will be made using a random postcode selection process. This ensures that distribution of the tax benefits is even throughout, and is also the reason that an itinerary is not published. Just keep waiting anxiously it will come eventually....as soon as swanny pulls your postcode from the bingo barrel

His theory is not that insane, it culls the worlds population and stimulates employment through arms manufacturing LOL

Yes, and increases the amount of debt in a country by borrowing even more from the world banks to finance it.

She MUST be a current student, and those payments have all been handed out anyways.

The only one that went on 07/08 is this $900 as it is being done by the ATO (who's most current records are 07/08). The rest are done by Centerlink who manage to keep "current" records.

Very true.

I can't believe the U.S. is cutting their defence budget. The defence industry is about the only manufacturing the U.S. has left. Recruit another million in the U.S. Army, build another dozen aircraft carriers and a few thousand aircraft carriers and go kick the out of Iran and North Korea.

Same as Australia. Lets double our defence budget. Our troops spend all their money on beer and Aussie V8's so pretty much all the money stays in Autstralia.

At least give our diggers a decent pay rise

Does anybody know "If your tax return is paid by direct deposit, do you receive your stimulas that way?"

My missus tax return was paid electronically last year, so I wonder. As for me, I dont think I qualify.
