Welfare is fully subsidised by speed camera profits, stop speeding and dole bludging crack heads will be thin on the ground...
I don't know this to be fact but its quite feasible, speed camera profits definitely don't go to road safety, must go to the dole office. |

The opposite actually.Their stockholding is classed as profit if it is higher than the previous years stockholding,so they pay tax when they buy it then claim the tax back at the next reporting period which may not be for up to 3 months later

Let the region sort out the region's problems. Notice how when any western country mentions limiting muslim refugee intake, we're met with cries of racism and bigotry. But fellow middle eastern nations such as Saudi Arabia and UAE take virtually none, and no one bats an eyelid. Apparently we should be taking on people from countries with vastly different culture and a religion that is somewhat incompatible with western ideals, yet a fellow muslim country is allowed to take an even tougher stance simply because the Syrians practice the wrong flavour of Islam. |

I don't want to become political but we are part of the problem, we should be part of the solution. Australia seemed to have no qualms with following the US into the Middle East thirteen years ago... |

I have no idea and really don't want to know, I work for a living.
But since people spend their whole life on welfare smoking pot and getting drunk on cask wine it can't be all that bad...

We live in a small town and there is more work than people, missus has two jobs and could have three if she wanted to or had 40 hr days available, I work 10-12 hr days. I started working at 15 never been out of work, I have collected trolleys, carried bricks on building sites, mixed concrete, poured concrete, dug trenches, stood on factory floors, loaded trucks, stacked pallets, etc etc all jobs no one wanted all paid well and all are freely available. I remember working as a labourers, people would start and quit by smoko as their hands were sore or it was too hard, then whine they had no money. So if you don't have a job go and get one don't wait for others to do it for you, if you can't find work in a week you are not trying.

I dunno about you guys but I'm experiencing a lot of my customers squealing and playing the poor me card when car repairs need to be done, lots of people are claiming they're struggling to make ends meet even though interest rates are at their lowest ever.
Imagine if we had a few interest rate increases? Either people are doing it tough or they think cars are cheap to fix. The extra $500 odd is seeming to be a problem when their car throws in the towel this week. |

I think its just perception of value, people have no worries about smoking two packs of smokes a day and having a $1000 phone in their pocket but when they get a $500 repair bill on their car they play the small violin orchestra and squeal like stuck pigs.
I like the oldies asking for pensioner discounts, stop playing the pokies instead |

Yes Damo's statement could be construed as a sweeping one, and not all oldies are on the pokies. But taking a walk through Melbourne's gaming venues (formerly pubs) especially in the western and northern suburbs is an eye opening experience. Come pension day (and the following few days), there isn't an idle machine as the older folk keep plying these disgusting machines with note after note in a futile attempt to "strike it rich".
The pokies and the casino are a blight on the community here in Victoria, and are a significant cause of hardship.

Its a generalisation, have a walk through a pub in Victoria with pokies and take note of the age of the players.
In my world I find it very disrespectful when people try haggle with me. I set a fair price. I will even move that price downwards to help out. But its my call, not yours. |

Take a chill pill mate, Damo never implied you were a pokie player.

Pro tip uleh: Young people can't get jobs with all the qualifications because employer wants experience. My workshop insurance is 3x the price of a mates with a similar business because I'm under 25 and he is 40 even though he has 7 figures worth of cover on customer vehicles and I'm mid 6 figures, as well as being in the game longer than him. House prices outstripping wages by much larger margin making it hard for Gen Y to get into property market. |

Personally i would like the asset test (to get the pension) fixed to 800k (not including the family home) from 1.2 million.
